Hillarys Boat Harbour, also known as Sorrento is located approximately 25mins drive from Perth and is located in the north west suburbs of Perth, and is one of Perth's best know family beaches, with a beautiful shaded playground right on the beach.

The Beach

* Safe Swimming * Pontoon * Showers * Toilets * Cafe *  Playground * Disabled/Pram Access to the Beach

The swimming area within the Marina is a great place to bring young kids for a swim as it is a well protected, there are no waves and the shallow area extends a fair way out. There is also a pontoon with two slides about 50m off shore that older children can swim out to.

There are a few shade sails erected in summer, but if you want to set up camp right on the water's edge make sure you bring your own shade.

The playground is located right on the beach approximately 20m from the waters edge. The playground is suitable for pretty much all ages, and has a great little boat the kids can sit in.  It is shaded for most of the summer months, but the shade is usually removed in winter.

 ...perfect spot for swimming and making sand castles all day.....

There is also lots of grassed areas right near the beach if you want to get away from the beach for a picnic. The Hillarys Boat Harbour and the beach area can get very busy on a hot day, but the beach area is very large and even on  the most popular days you wont have trouble finding somewhere set and enjoy a swim. There is another swimming area just north, past the amusement rides, there is some grassed areas here too and there are usually less people.

What to Bring - sand pit toys, playing catch or frisbee in the shallow water is always popular here so bring a ball or frisbee, shade, hats & sunscreen, picnic blanket, BBQ lunch or dinner, net if you want to try and catch some little fish
