Matilda Bay is one places along the Swan River to spend the day enjoying a BBQ,some beach cricket, jumping of the pontoons and having a swim!
Matilda Bay has it all – bbq facilities, shaded grassed area right on the shore perfect for picnicing or playing cricket and is a great Swan River swimming spot that overlooks the Perth city skyline.
The Matilda Bay Tea Rooms are located near the pontoons also so you can enjoy a coffee or a light meal in their beautiful outdoor dining area overlooking the Matilda Bay pontoons.
And if the kids need a fresh water shower there is one located a bit up from the Matilda Bay Tearooms towards the Matilda Bay Restaurant
If you want to barbeque, you’ll need to either base yourself near the Matlida Bay Tea Rooms in between the pontoons or wander up to this spot to cook your food – or keep it simple and bring a cold packed dinner along - or grab something from the Matilda Bay Tea Rooms.
Not far away from the Matlida Bay Tea Rooms towards Mounts Bay Road, there were some great climbing trees that the kids loved loved playing in.
You don’t need to bring shade along there is plenty of shade by mid afternoon on the foreshore. It gets pretty cool once the suns gone down so don’t forget to bring some warmer clothes and mozzie repellent just in case.
This is a great spot to watch the fireworks or Australia Day also - a little less congested than the Perth city and South Perth Foreshore but still a great vantage point.
What to Bring: picnic rug, bbq or picnic dinner, beach sand toys, inflatables, kayaks/canoes, mosquito repellant, radio, beach cricket
