Stirling Miniature Railway

Last Sunday of Every Month

*Free gas barbeques *Unlimted Train rides included in entry *Small kiosk *Shaded gazebo *Shaded grass area * Toilets * Baby Change Table * Last Sunday of every month only

What a beautiful morning it was at the Stirling Miniature Railway in Balcatta. This place was much more than I had expected and I was so surprised to find out that this place has been here for 25 years. This was one happening little place. It is run by the Northern Districts Model Engineering Society (Perth) Inc (NDMES)and is perfect for a Sunday out with the family, the kids will love it.

We arrived right on 10am and at this time was able to jump on a few consecutive train rides with only a few minutes wait between each ride, leading up to 12 noon however the crowds picked up and wait times were around 25 mins - so get there early to make the most of your time there.

There are two separate tracks, that leave from one central station that wind around the grounds & through a tunnel. This place has all the trimmings of a real hustle and bustle train station. There are people organising passengers and lots of train drivers and train mechanics getting on and off trains.

There is a beautiful large, circular grassed area in the centre that is fully fenced and contains a large gazebo and several table and chair arrangements. There is also plenty of large trees providing lots of shade and lots of room to lay out your picnic rug. The trains go around the grassed area so you can sit back and watch them go round all day long.

Fantastic idea for birthday parties, you can arrange parties and have tables reserved by contacting the NDMES. Gas barbeques are available for free use.

There is a canteen that sells basic icecreams and drinks so make sure you bring lunch along if you intend to stay a little longer.

There are toilets available and there is a baby change table in the female toilets. There is full disabled access to the grassed area, but there is a set of stairs leading down to the station platform.

What to bring?
Barbeque or packed lunch, barbeque tools if you are using the barbeque, enclosed shoes (these are mandatory to be worn at all times within the venue) & a picnic rug.

Safety Considerations
Ensure you wear covered footwear (this is mandatory to be worn at all times while on the premises). Also the barbeques have been fenced off to keep the little ones out, so make sure the gate is secured shut when using the barbeques.
