We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE March Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.


Friday 3rd – Monday 20th - Sculptures by the Sea Cottesloe Beach

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is staged on the beautiful Cottesloe Beach, Western Australia. The exhibition is featured from the sea wall all the way along the sand towards North Cottesloe and on the surrounding grassed areas creating a beautiful sculpture park. What's On This Labour Day Long Weekend 2017?!

Saturday 4th – Syren Street Festival Rockingham

To celebrate the end of Summer and the Labour Day long weekend, Rockingham Centre is hosting a free family fun day with lots of games and activities for all ages. There will be buskers, magicians, puppet workshop, video games, skateboard competition and more. From 12pm to 7pm. Find out more in the Facebook event.

Saturday 4th – Retro Rewind Yanchep National Park

The City of Wanneroo hosts a day of vintage frivolity and fun. There will be rockabilly music playing on the stage, Vintage Collective markets to wander through, and a display of hot rods. There will also be many free children’s activities on offer including lawn games, a bouncy castle and face painting. The kids will be kept entertained for hours with retro arcade games, flower crown making and paper aeroplane making to amuse them.  

The event is free and park entry fees will be waived specially for event attendees. 1pm to 5pm. wanneroo.wa.gov.au

Saturday 4th – Mills Park Community Day Beckenham

Explore Mills Park during this family event with free entertainment, rides and skate clinic, as well as a treasure hunt and nature play fun for the kids. Facility tours will give residents a closer look at the award-winning Mills Park Centre and local sports clubs will host ‘Have a Go’ events. There will also be activities for seniors, community group demonstrations, information stalls, craft activities and a pop-up library. Bring a picnic or buy refreshments or lunch from a variety of stalls and food trucks. 11am – 2pm. gosnells.wa.gov.au

Sunday 5th – Point Walter Concert Bicton

The Point Walter foreshore will come alive with live music, children’s entertainment, fireworks and more! The wonderful fairies from the Freedom Fairies will be visiting throughout the concert to paint faces and create magical balloon animals for all the girls and boys. There will also be a bouncy castle and yummy fairy floss and popcorn too! Sunday 5th & Monday 6th – Hyde Park Community Fair North Perth

All the excitement of Perth's longest running FREE community fair! Live entertainment, International Food, Local Wine, Beer & Cider, Arts & Crafts, Markets, Rides, Car Shows, Community Displays, Activities and more! Follow the trail to find "The Smurfs Lost Village" with free activities and Smurfy prizes. 10am – 9pm Sunday and 10am – 5pm Monday. www.hydeparkfair.com.au

Wednesday 8th – Big Messy Play Day, Mills Park Beckenham

Come along and join in for a morning of messy fun and sensory play. Bring the kids to enjoy some messy fun with water play, slime, painting, mud and more. 10am – 12pm. gosnells.wa.gov.au

Wednesday 8th – Sunday 12th – Confluence South Perth Foreshore

Visitors are invited to step into a dense network of cone shaped forms and watch as the responsive lighting illuminates your path, taking you on a sensory journey into the unknown. Located East of Mends Street Jetty, South Perth. Open daily, illuminated at night. Follow the facebook event for more info

Saturday 11th – Cambridge Street Festival Wembley

During the afternoon families will be treated to a jam packed program of entertainment including live music and street theatre, bustling pop-up market stalls, offering unique arts & craft and children's performances and amusement rides. 3pm – 8pm. cambridge.wa.gov.au

Sunday 12th – Pool Party Bash Leisure World Thornlie

As part of the City of Gosnell’s Homegrown festival, dive in and make a splash at Leisure World’s tropical Pool Party Bash. With games and giveaways, delicious treats, prizes and a few extra surprises, there’s loads of entertainment for the whole family. Meet Lilo and Stitch, Photo booth, Face painting, Snow cones, lolly bags and free delicious fruit, Kids Zumba and Junior Gym demos and slides and inflatables. 1pm to 4pm. Sunday 12th – Splashfest Swanbourne Reserve

Splashfest is a day of summer fun for the whole family with water rides, slides and plenty of other fun activities. The event will feature a huge Aqua Rush slide, a pirate ship super slide, a Ninja Challenge obstacle course, water rollers, a bouncy castle, giant games, fairies, mermaids and much more. Sunday 12th – Music by Moonlight Burswood Foreshore

Join the WA Youth Orchestra and a host of special guests as they celebrate 10 years of Music by Moonlight. Burswood Park will be transformed with your favourite tracks from blockbuster movies and around the world in an amazing free concert for the whole family. 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Saturday 18th – Little Scribblers at the Circus, Walter Padbury Park Thornlie

Try your hand at a range of circus activities such as juggling, hula hooping, acrobatics and much more. Enjoy fun, interactive workshops for all ages and be entertained as the main stage comes to life with breath-taking performances. Have your photos taken with colourful characters, go for a spin on the free carnival rides and try your luck in sideshow alley. 10am – 2pm. gosnells.wa.gov.au

Saturday 18th – Astrofest Curtin University Bentley

This astronomy festival of epic proportions will be an engaging celebration of Australian science. As well as optical and radio telescopes observing throughout the day and night, Astrofest will feature a myriad of interesting, engaging and exciting indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family. There will also be many different telescopes to try out, or you can bring your own for some expert advice in getting the most out of it. Saturday 18th – Cardboard City McDougall Park Kindy Como

Join us for a morning of free play, creativity and fun when the beautiful grounds of McDougall Park Community Kindergarten are transformed into a cardboard city for a day. Visit the farm, sail a boat on the river, work at the building site and add your own creations to the city. Over the morning the city will evolve as children are free to construct, renovate, redecorate and let their imaginations run wild. Sunday 19th – 1000 Paper Cranes Community Picnic and Fun Day Piney Lakes Reserve Winthrop

Help construct the 1,000 Paper Cranes For Brain Cancer Sculpture. With a full 4-hour stage and exhibition program, Children’s games,  All types origami (with prizes), Yoga, Chinese massage, and reflexology,  Ikebana, Kimono dress ups and Haiku and calligraphy. Saturday 25th – EnviroFEST Whiteman Park

Visitors to this family-friendly event will be able to browse through the range of displays, participate in workshops, listen in on short talks and take home an array of eco-friendly products and information to help them become more ‘green’ and sustainable. The event features native fauna displays, renewable energy, native and organic seedlings for sale, workshops and a range of sustainable and healthy living products. Saturday 25th – The Park Pop up Bibra Lake Playground

Wednesday 29th – World’s Biggest Playgroup Day Whiteman Park

Get ready for loads of megasaurus fun and join us as we celebrate the World’s Biggest Playgroup Day 2017! This year's theme is Dinosaurs and there’s loads of fun activities and entertainment planned.  There’ll be an Animal farm, bouncy castle, face painting, water play, messy play, playgroup activities and roaming activities including stiltwalkers and a variety of costume characters! 10am – 1pm. Free Outdoor Cinema Events

Take advantage of the warm summer evenings and head to one of the free outdoor movies being screened around Perth during March. Bring along a picnic for the ultimate cheap night out.
