We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE May Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.


Tuesday 2nd - Stockland Bull Creek Playdates 

In conjunction with the City of Melville and Gowrie WA, Stockland Bullcreek are hosting community play dates on the first Tuesday of every month. Sessions are aimed at children aged 2-5 years and will incorporate fun, interactive and developmental activities guided by a Gowrie educator. Bookings aren't required, just show up on the day. 9:30am to 11am. www.stockland.com.au

Friday 5th - Brownes Dairy Freebie Day, Balcatta

Brownes are again holding their Freebie product day. With over $30 worth of free Brownes Dairy products being given away to each person, this is a freebie not to miss. To register for your unique code, message Brownes Dairy on Facebook with your name and email. Bring the code on the day to collect your free goodie bag. Sunday 7th - Honey Festival, Herne Hill

Come along for the annual free Honey festival. Featuring demonstrations, honey tasting, face painting and games, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. 10 am to 4pm. 867 Great Northern Hwy, Herne Hill. www.thehouseofhoney.com.au/

Sunday 7th – Mt Hawthorn Streets and Lanes Festival

The streets and lanes of Mt Hawthorn will be transformed into a vibrant street festival. Hailed by many as the perfect family day out, the event will include street food, live music, family fun, market stalls, entertainment stages, street bars, cooking displays, roving performers, community umbrella art and a bigger family fun zone with new attractions and more rides. Sunday 7th – Moondyne Festival, Toodyay

Come along and experience the community spirit in the centre of Toodyay, complete with street theatre, colonial village, entertainment, artisan and heritage crafts, healthy food stalls and loads of non-stop, amazing fun activities for all the family. Everyone is encouraged to dress in pioneer period costume! A highlight of the day is the re-enactment of Moondyne Joe’s various escapades throughout the town, his arrests and mock trials. Join in the fun with Moondyne Joe as he runs around town, robbing shops, escaping custody and being a general menace. Cheer on Joe’s gang, ‘floozies’, coppers, swaggies and the Town Crier. 9am to 4pm. www.moondynefestival.com.au

Saturday 13th – Cultural Festival, Buddhist Temple Maylands

This will be a chance for you, your family and friends to experience all the Buddhist temple has to offer for free! Vegetarian Food Fair, Meditation, Calligraphy, Tea Appreciation and Performances are just some of what to expect during the festival. 9am – 4pm. 280 Guildford rd, Maylands. www.facebook.com/events

Saturday 13th – Frasers Landing Park Grand Opening, Coodanup

Celebrate the official grand opening of the new Frasers Landing park. Catch up with family, friends, neighbours and guests while enjoying Kayaking on the Serpentine River, Model power boat demonstrations, Bouncy Castle, Face painting and Food and drink (available to purchase).  10am to 1pm. 1 Landings Boulevarde, Coodanup. www.fraserproperty.com.au

Monday 15th – An Afternoon with my Family, Mills Park Beckenham

Sunday 21st – Retro Family Fun at the Museum, Wilkinson Homestead Gosnells

Sunday 21st – Festival in the ‘Wood, Inglewood

A fantastic free day out celebrating the best of what Inglewood has to offer. From local artisan stalls and tasty food through to live music to match your mood, save the date in your diary and bring your family, friends and furry ones down for the fun and frivolities. 12pm – 5pm. Sunday 21st – Wundowie Iron Festival

Join in the celebration of Wundowie’s Iron Heritage with this country festival with displays and activities for all ages. Browse the Iron themed displays including painting, sculpture and photography. Sunday 28th – Wear Ya Wellies, Bindoon

Wear Ya Wellies is a great opportunity for kids to get active in the outdoors and a little messy at the same time. There will be up to 60 stalls and activities at this year’s event including: Muddy Maze, Mini Mud Run, Nature Play Mud Zone (including Mud Bakery and cubby houses), Lions Train, Tug of War and Welly Throwing Competitions, Dance Recital, Amazing Mr Jim, Eco Faeries and Recyl-A-Ball. 10am – 2pm.
