Playground | Toilets | Footpaths | BBQs | Picnic Shelters
Well I can tell you this park is much improved from the Rotary Park Wanneroo my parents used to take me to for a quick 30 minute play get us out of the house years ago. Rotary Park is located on Scenic Drive in Wanneroo, and is nested alongside Joondalup Lake
This is no longer a park to take the kids to for a quick 30 minute play, your little one will need a good 2-3 hours minimum to explore & play this wonderful playground. There are several play areas with paths that wind in between them. There are so many different play experiences at this playground, there are slides, swings, musical instruments, a sand conveyor belt, a rock climbing wall and much more. There is also a wheelchair accessible swing.
The playground is mostly fenced and the toilets are within the fenced area.
For the parents there are 3 large undercover areas with complimentary barbeques and tables (not all of them have chairs with the tables), making this a great park for a kids birthday party or family get together. There are also bench seats and other seating areas at various spots around the playground so you can sit close to the play area to supervise your children.
There is plenty of shade and grassed areas to put down your picnic rug and there is a longer pathway where little ones can ride their bikes or scooters or parents can go for a short walk - while still being in view of the playground.
This park is suitable for children of all ages. Most of the climbing and play equipment is suited to the 2+ age group, however there are swings and other little play things for babies too.
What to take?
Picnic Rug; bikes & scooters for riding around the footpaths; ball games; packed lunch, hats & sunscreen. There are no shops or cafes near by so bring your coffee & tea with you - or purchase on the way from a cafe in the Wanneroo Shopping precinct. There is also a cycle way that runs all the way down Scenic Drive, so you might want to bring your bikes and the kids bikes along.
Snakes can be very active along the lake in the hotter months. The park is well fenced from the lake and swamp areas with cyclone mesh fencing which will prevent snakes entering the play area but something to just be mindful of if children wander towards shrub or swamp area this time of year.
This is quite a large park, so make sure your kids know where you are based in case they find themselves lost or unsure as to where you are. It is fenced all the way around but there are no gates for the entry and exit points.
