The newly opened Yokine Playground, at the Yokine Reserve on Wordsworth Avenue, is absolutely amazing!
It's a massive playground built at the Yokine Regional Open Space, that is completely enclosed with fences and a few gate entry/exit points. What I love about this playground that I have seen no where else is the double gated exit/entry points. This stops kids from hanging out at the gate and getting straight out when it's opened. There is also heaps of parking so you shouldn't have a problem finding a place even on a busy day.
This beautiful new playground has a natural feel about it with lots of beautiful, large shady trees and lots of nature play features. Kids will love winding their way around the wooden balancing logs.
There is something for all ages at this park, with ground level musical play features, sea saws, swings, and lots of climbing features with a climbing wall, climbing net and small spinning space net. And there are lots of swings, so no waiting for ages to have a turn. There are lots of different types of swings with the traditional, toddler and a cool hammock types swing too.
There are lots of seated area near the play features so parents can sit and relax while they watch the kids play. The playground is completely disabled and pram accessible with ramps built for access to the main play structure.
The park also features some gorgeous creatures made from wood and other recycled objects. Check out the cute little creatures found in the nature play area below.
We didn't notice it on our visit (it was blowing a gale with a severe storm on the way so it was a very quick play!), but there is a small water play feature near the sand pit
Yokine Playground also makes a great place for a family gathering or birthday party with barbeques and a smalled shaded area with a table and seating. Toilets are located outside the fenced area not far from the bbq area too.
We definitely recommend heading to Yokine to check out this new playground - you and your kids wont be disappointed.
What to Bring: the park is not fully shaded and there are some areas that are exposed to full sun, so make sure you take sunscreen and hats. Also there is some sanded areas so take sand pit toys along, and spare clothes in case a play in the water feature is on
