Avocados Café is located in Kelmscott just off Brookton Highway. It's located alongside the Canning River and features beautiful garden dining with a kids playground and river views. My car GPS got a bit confused with the official address of 2 Mount St and tried to send me down a gravel laneway in the middle of nowhere. It’s actually very easy to find, keep a look out for the “OPEN” trailer out on the highway.

Follow the arrows from the carpark to the entrance of the café. We grabbed a menu from the bar and chose a table outside right next to the playground and river. The location is absolutely amazing with lots of large trees and the picturesque gardens, all right next to the river. If you look closely there are some dragonfly statues hovering above the river.

There are lots of tables to choose from, both inside and outside, to cater for any sort of weather. There was even a cute small table nestled in the garden between some trees.

The café has a relatively large menu, serving up breakfast (between 8am and 11am), lunch (between 11am – 4pm) and dinner on a Friday night (5:30pm – 8:30pm). We settled on getting a bowl of cheesy bacon wedges and a strawberry milkshake to share and placed our order back inside at the bar.

The small playground is fully fenced, which is good given that it’s right next to the river. The kids were happy to play while we waited for our food to arrive.

We went on a week day during lunchtime, so the café was fairly quiet and our food arrived pretty quickly. Given the awesome location I’d expect it gets pretty busy on weekends especially if the weather is nice. I loved the laid back feel at Avocados café and that we were able to sit and eat outside. I can certainly see ourselves returning when the weather is warmer to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon here enjoying lunch and a few drinks.
