Banana Skins Children's Hairdresser in Applecross, conveniently located on Ardross St, is the only kids only hair dresser south of the river (that we know of anyway), and boy do they do it well!

The salon is beautifully decked out with lots of colour and lots of cute little monkeys hanging around.

Kids not only get a great cut but they get treated to a fun hairdo at the end. With a Hi-5 type ribbons and sparkles look for girls and coloured product for boys, your kids will leave looking like a mini rock star!

They get their cut and hair do in a cool car or motorbike - and there's always a DVD playing to help keep them entertained too!

There is also a big play table with a big bucket of toys. This is great if you have a few kids and they have to wait while the others get their hair done.

They also have a great range of "low lauryl sulphate" and "lauryl sulphate free" hair care products for your kids.

And for the girls in particular - they offer a hair style option, so if they are going to a party or a disco they can get their hair done with ribbons and sparkles without having to have the cut.

Don't be fooled by the lack of kids in the photo, I managed to pop in on what was a very rare quiet time. Bookings are essential.

Prices are based on age and include a cut and hairstyle at the end and range from $23 for 12 months up to $47 for 12 years old (girls cost a little more than boys for older children). They also do fringe trims for $10 (please note prices accurate at time of posting please check when booking to confirm latest prices)

Don't be put off by the price, the reviews I have read prove that they not only deliver great quality hair cuts but they make the kids feel special and give them a fun experience - the staff I met were just lovely!
