Perth Family Beaches

Perth boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  There's not much better than spending the day as a family at the beach, swimming, playing cricket, building sand castles, relaxing.... Here are some great beaches that are perfect for families to enjoy some good Aussie sunshine by the sea! 

Remember to be sun safe! 

  • Plan your outdoor outings with the family before 10am and after 2pm (or 11am and 3pm for daylight savings)
  • Use 30+ SPF sunscreen and re-apply every 2 hrs
  • If your using insect repellent with sunscreen put sunscreen on first and apply insect repellent over the top
  • Seek shade wherever possible, make sure you always have a small shade dome or something similar in the car in case there is no shade or shade is taken
  • Choose a wide brimmed hat that protects the head, face, neck and ears
  • Be a good role model, wear your sun protection and your children are more likely to want to wear theirs also

North Of The River

Rosslare Park Mindarie

Shallow calm, step entry beach at the northern end of the Mindarie Marina - located on a quiet suburban street, another one of Perth's hidden secrets.

Hillarys Boat Harbour

Perfect spot to enjoy the beach with young children.  It's protected from waves and the water is shallow so if makes a great safe swimming spot for families. There's a playground on the beach, pontoons to swim out to with slides, a coffee or bite to eat are not far away, or enjoy a picnic on the grassed area nearby! 

Trigg Beach

Great beach for families, easy ramp access from the carpark. Shallow smooth reef perfect for little ones who want to learn to snorkel. Right next to huge reserve with grassed area, playground and BBQs. Great place to spend the day going back and forth from the playground to the beach! 

Watermans Bay

A beautiful, somewhat hidden away, spot for little kids with a well protected cove for swimming and a great little playground. Great protected area for snorkelling or for little ones to enjoy a swim.

Floreat Beach

Beachside playground alongside The Kiosk Floreat. Beautiful beach accessed from the picnic area.

South of the River

Port Coogee Beach Marina

This is the perfect spot for little ones to enjoy a swim at the beach. With shallow water, pram access to the beach, water splash pad on the foreshore, toilets and showers nearby they will love this little piece of paradise by the sea

Village Beach and Recreational Area Wannanup

Another great beach for young families with calm, shallow water, playground, toilets, BBQs and shower.
