Cafe Myriade is a unique little cafe located on Lake St in a the nice quiet part of Northbridge.  It's the only cafe in Perth were you can sit down as a family and enjoy some traditional board game fun, while enjoying a delicious coffee, dessert or pastry.

Cafe Myriade has over 250+ games & puzzles, with something to suit all ages - so put the iphones away and get to Cafe Myriade with the family and enjoy some quality non-technology family time!  There even a giant chess game you can play outside the front of the cafe!

You'll also find lots of games you have never heard of.  But don't worry too much about having to learn the rules to a new game, the staff are very knowledgeable and can make recommendations for games and give you a head start on the instructions.

The cafe is beautifully decked out with low tables and lots of pillows for playing games as well as cafe style tables and chairs.  The kids will love the monopoly board on the ceiling! 

Here are a few games we played that my 6 year old son absolutely loved! 

Toc Toc Woodman (3+) 2+ players The object of this game is to try to knock the bark off the tree first with the hammer.   For every piece of bark you knock off you get +1 point.  If you knock off part of the truck you get -5 points.   You count up your pieces at the end and whoever has the highest score wins.

Humpty Dumpty Wall Game (3+) 2 players For this game you have to use the little tool to remove bricks from the wall.   The player that moves the brick that makes the wall come tumbling down and Humpty fall loses.

Angry Birds (3+) 2 + players This game is great as kids have to look at the cards and build the structure as detailed in the card. The card also details the sequence of birds to be used to knock it down Kids will love flicking the birds across the table to knock the structure down and get points for the pigs and the golden eggs.

Pop Up Pirate (3+) 2 players This game was very simple but heaps of fun.  I could not drag my son away from it. Pop in the pirate and you are ready to play. Each player takes a turn at putting in a knife.  The player that puts the knife in that "pops out" the pirate loses - or maybe they could be the winner, you decide, either way its a easy, fun game.

Cafe Myriade is a wonderful opportunity to get away from the tv and the iphone and let the kids enjoy some traditional gaming fun!

My son had a ball, it was a wonderful way for us to enjoy some one on one time while his little brother was being looked after for the afternoon.

Cafe Myriade also do Party Packages - they are not open after school but you may be able to negotiate a discounted party package during the week.  Just contact Cafe Myriade to enquire (08) 9227 0050.

When: Due to low numbers Cafe Myriade does not open before 7pm during the week (closed Monday & Thursdays) but is open 2-7pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Always ring ahead to make sure they are open to avoid disappointment.

Price: All you can play for only $9 per person before 7pm (Fri - Sun Only).  $5.50 for 1 hr or ask about their gaming packages that include drinks and desserts.

Age Suitablity: there isn't too many games for children 2 and under and there aren't any high chairs, so Cafe Myriade is probably more ideal for children 3+.  

Parking: there is 2hr free parking out the front of the cafe and surrounding streets
