Block Themed Playground | Trampolines | Picnic Tables | No Toilets | No BBQs
Colour Block Park in Golden Bay is as the name suggests – A playground made out of brightly coloured blocks!
This fun little park features a main play structure with blocks to climb, a rope bridge and a bright yellow slide. While this park is aimed more at younger kids, the rope bridge leading to the slide is quite challenging to cross. My toddler definitely couldn’t make it across by himself.
Underneath the play
structure is a tunnel which is hiding two playable games – A puzzle and “4 in a
Around the edges of
the playground are more coloured blocks to climb or balance on, as well as some
sand play equipment including a funnel and a digger.
This park has also included large tractor wheels (which seems to be a continuing theme in the parks in this area), this time to make a play tractor! This was a favourite with my toddler who spent the majority of the time sitting on it and spinning the driving wheel.
A popular feature of the newer playgrounds is inbuilt mini trampolines, and this park has 3! I have to admit I even enjoyed having a bounce on them.
The playground is completely covered by shade sails and also features a covered picnic table, but no barbecues or toilets. There is plenty of grass to run around on and a small decked area apparently to use for yoga, though I’m not sure how relaxing it would be doing yoga next to a playground full of kids.
If you find your kids are a bit bored by this park, the Orang-utan Park is just around the corner and is more suitable for older kids. Make a day of it and playground hop all the parks in Golden Bay including the Orang-Utan Park and Sunset Hill Park.
