One thing I can tell you about the Dinosaur Petting Zoo theatre performance by Erth, is that I didn't expect that I would be using the word "funny" to describe this show, but it was just that! I can only describe the performance as a cross between a stage documentary and a stand up comedy routine - it was absolutely hilarious.
With something in the show for young and old, there was no going past the amazing puppetry used in this show. Like many of the kids being chased around the stage, I found myself forgetting that these magnificent creatures weren't real.
It gives you a real glimpse of how it would have been to watch them walk the earth those 65 million years ago (see I was listening to the show I learned something!)
Prior to the show I had been given some warning that the show was very dark and loud, and not suitable for younger children. However, we found the room to be suitably lit and didn't find it to be too noisy. My son hates noise and he wasn't not bothered by the level of noise. The show is definitely aimed at children 5 and above, but many younger children also enjoyed the show.
The kids are welcomed by the show staff to sit on the carpet at the front of the stage. The kids here are very much involved in the whole show and the small venue makes for an intimate show, where the presenter does an excellent job of involving the whole audience.
There is pram parking outside the theatre, and there is good pram access to the theatre, you just may find it difficult to maneuver through the crowds before the show as the foyer area is very crowded before the show.
Just a tip leave your extra cash and credit card at home if you don't want to be drilled down by the kids to buy them some of the dinosaur merchandise outside the theatre.
If you haven't been and you haven't booked your tickets you had better do so ASAP as they are mostly booked out. We highly recommend the Dinosaur Petting Zoo at the Perth Museum, for both Mums/Dads and kids, it's a fantastic show not to be missed.
Dinosaur Petting Zoo tickets can be purchased online - but hurry shows sell our fast! Don't let you little dinosaur fan be disappointed!
Once the shows over why not head into the Perth Museum with all your new dinosaur knowledge and check out some prehistoric history!
Age recommendation: After having seen the show I would recommend it for ages 2+, the show is not too noisy, the room is well lit, and there is room to the sides of the stage if you need to get up and walk around with younger ones.
