Hillarys Boat Harbour, also known as Sorrento is located approximately 25mins drive from Perth and is located in the north west suburbs of Perth. It's one of Perth's best know family beaches, with a beautiful shaded playground right on the beach. There is so much to do and you can easily spend the day or night away here. Enjoy a swim in the marina, slide from the pontoon, ride the Boardwalk Betty Train free on weekends and school holidays, have a BBQ, dine at one of the many cafes & restaurants, grab an icecream or froyo and so much more.
Safe Swimming | Pontoon with Slides | Showers | Toilets | Cafe | BBQs | Playground | Disabled/Pram Access to the Beach
The swimming area within the Marina is a great place to bring young kids for a swim as it is a well protected, there are no waves and the shallow area extends a fair way out. There is also a pontoon with two slides about 50m off shore that older children can swim out to. You'll find some shade erected in summer, but if you want to set up camp right on the water's edge make sure you bring your own small shade. BBQs are located on the grassed area near the beach if you want to enjoy a BBQ breakfast, lunch or dinner with your swim at the beach.
The playground is located right on the beach approximately 20m from the waters edge. The playground is suitable for younger children. It is shaded for most of the summer months, but the shade is usually removed in winter.
Hillarys Boat Harbour and the beach area can get very busy on a hot day, however the beach area is very large and even on the most popular days you shouldn't have trouble finding somewhere set and enjoy a swim. There is another swimming area just north, past the amusement rides. There are some grassed areas here too and it usually a little less crowded.
What to Bring - sand pit toys, playing catch or frisbee in the shallow water is always popular here so bring a ball or frisbee, shade, hats & sunscreen, picnic blanket, BBQ lunch or dinner, net if you want to try and catch some little fish
