Amaze'n Margaret River

Hedge Maze * Garden Mazes * Garden Puzzles * Garden Games * Playground * BBQ * Mini Golf * Cafe * Board Games & Puzzles * Kids Play Corner

Amaze'n Margaret River is just that - AMAZING! It's a great place to spend the day with the family, or if you are looking for a family friendly place to have a coffee or a light lunch, Amaze'n is the place to go! We have visited Amazen Margaret River a few times now, and everytime we visit there is something new. The trees for the giant hedge maze were planted in 1994 (and it didn't open it's doors until 2010), so this place has been a long time in the making and the owners are continually working to make Amazen bigger and better.

You can either just go for a coffee, cake or light lunch and enjoy some board games and puzzles. Or you can pay the admission fee and enter the grounds to go through the mazes. The grounds feature so much more than just the mazes, so keep reading to find out all about one of Margaret River's biggest and best attractions, Amazen!

If you want to go through to the grounds to enjoy the maze and gardens there is an admission fee. A family pass is available and you will receive a wrist band that you can use to enter as many times as you like for that day.

The biggest attraction is obviously the giant hedge maze. Our son had so much fun leading the way and taking us down mulitple dead ends until we found our way out about 30 mins later. Take on the challenge of finding all 8 bench seats and other items listed on the back of the map. This is a long maze (1.5km of pathways) and there is an emergency exit that can be used to exit if you need to rest.  There is also now a viewing deck in the middle of the maze so you can look out over the beautiful Amazen grounds.

At the exit to the hedge maze there are several large garden puzzles for the kids to solve. One is the Hill Paving Maze, the kids must follow a path that runs up a hill and find their way to the rock in the middle.

Another is a Stepping Stone puzzle, you must follow the circles in the order of white-red-black to find your way to the middle. This had us all stumped for ages, then when you finally find your way to the middle you have to remember how you did it! It's great fun and good for getting the kids minds focused while getting some great outdoor activity.

The kids loved playing a game of giant checkers in the garden and you can see in the background of the picture above there is a giant chess game under the trees too.

There's another small maze called the "Turn Left Maze" and lots of trails to follow through the grounds that are beautifully decorated with natives and ornaments - which have attracted lots of local bird life.

If you want to make a day of it there is certainly enough for the kids to do all day. Amaze'n is all about games! There are games in the foyer and cafe, there are games in and around the mazes, there are games outside in the grounds like bowls and quoits, there are even game boards painted onto the tables outside!

There is also a large grassed areas, lots of shade, free gas barbecues under a large undercover area, lots of tables and chairs. There's plenty of room to spend the afternoon away having a barbecue, playing games, seeing who can do the maze the quickest, running around onthe grasseda area and playing on the playground.

You can also enjoy a round of 18 holes of mini golf, for a small additional fee.

And if it's just breakfast, a coffee, light lunch or an ice-cream you are after this is a great place to relax with the family. Entry to the cafe is free and there is a small play area in the corner for the younger kids, and on the other side there is a unit full of games. There's monopoly, checkers, chess, solitaire and so many more games. Great for some old fashioned family game time while you have a coffee and something to eat.

You can also dine and take your board games outside in the alfresco dining area

Safety Considerations

There are some small pieces in some of the games in the cafe, so be mindful if younger children are with you

They will give you a mud map when you enter, make sure you take a close note of emergency exits. The property is located amongst bushland where there is a fire risk, so make sure you know where to go in the event of an emergency (due to the fire risk there is also no smoking allowed on the grounds)

Sunscreen and repellent are provided (remember to put sunscreen on first then repellent) but make sure you have plenty of sun protection as there are lots of non-shaded areas on the grounds.

There is pond on the grounds (which is out of bounds of course) but make sure children are closely supervised to ensure they don't try and get into the area.

What to Bring

Amaze'n Margaret River have pretty much thought of everything so you don't need to bring too much extra. Just make sure you have sun protection (suncream is available with the outdoor games near the exit from the cafe). There's a sandpit under the playground so if you have little ones and you are staying for a while consider bringing some sandpit toys and of course if you are having a barbecue bring your food and bbq tools
