Add a visit to Perth City Farm to your next Perth city adventure. You can drive there or make it even more fun and catch the free Perth City Yellow Cat bus, it stops right out the front.
It's not often farm and city are found in the same sentence, but we are lucky in Perth that we have a fantastic little farm in our inner city (East Perth). At Perth City Farm you can enjoy something from the cafe then wander the gardens that include vegetables, herbs, flowering plants and chickens!
If it's a nice day you might like to enjoy dining out in the garden area. There are tables just outside the alfresco area within part of the garden area and right alongside a little sand pit packed with lots of Tonka trucks.
On a rainy day or if it's a little hot outside you can also enjoy spacious alfresco dining. There are fans and heaters to keep things comfortable and alfresco blinds are closed in winter to keep the cafe dry and warm and open in summer so you can enjoy some fresh air and enjoy the garden surroundings.
There's lots to choose from on the menu and from the display cabinet, including gluten free options, fresh juices and smoothies. City Farm Cafe is open daily for breakfast and lunch, with an All Day Dining Menu (except Saturday it closes at 12noon) and they have a kids menu too that includes "googy egg on toast". Plenty of high chairs are available at the cafe.
I enjoyed a delicious feta & zucchini slice with a mocha and there were lots of sweet treats available from the display and counter also.
If you want to take a little bit of Perth City Farm home with you - browse the range of jams and relishes in the cafe and buy something to take home or maybe even give as a gift.
Whether you drive, catch the bus or the train, get yourselves to Perth City Farm and Cafe and get yourself a country fix next time you are in the city. The Perth City Farm Farmers Market runs every Saturday 8am - 12noon, and they also run a series of Twilight Markets. Find more information on the Perth City Farm facebook.
