Perth Museum

* Entry by donation * School Holiday Activities * Close to Perth Train Station * Cafe * Play Space at Entry

The Perth Museum, located in Northbridge, just a short walk from the Wellington St Train Station, is a "must do" with kids in Perth. Just before you enter the Perth Museum is the free Perth Cultural Centre Playspace - the kids will love having a play here before or after your visit.

Entry to the Western Australian Museum is by donation, there is a box that states a suggested donation of $5.

It had been quite some years since I had been to the Perth Museum, I think the last time I went was in Year 10 at school, so yes a very long time ago! We took the opportunity to go after the Dinosaur Petting Zoo show, and then spent hours wandering through the displays and enjoying the activities.

The kids will love this dinosaur located at the entry to the museum, and they can see more dinosaurs up stairs.

We started downstairs in the Discovery Room. Here there are hundreds of drawers that contain all sorts of things like, rocks, shells & fossils. The kids loved opening them all to see what surprise was inside. There are also lots of displays, puzzles, interactive computers & other activities to do.

If you have a dinosaur fan in the family, they will love the Dinosaur section found on the top floor of the museum. There is information and displays on all the dinosaur history including life size skeletons of all the favorites! There's also a great space section, perfect for the budding astronaut!

The Perth Museum is a great place for kids to have fun, learn and best of all wear themselves out for a nice long afternoon sleep! Make sure you allow yourself at least a few hours to have a good look around there is so much to see.

Afterwards there is a lovely inner city swamp area just outside the Perth Cultural centre where the kids can spot frogs - this is a nice place to stop and have some lunch or a snack.

We hope you enjoy your trip to the Perth Museum as much as we did, catching the train in made it all the more fun too!
