Run A Muck - Belvoir Estate Swan Valley

Run A Muck (formerly known as Stampede in the Valley) is Perth's craziest, funniest and muddiest obstacle course at the Belvoir Estate Swan Valley.  Although bad weather threatened, the sun came out through the clouds right at the start and it turned out to be a great morning!  We ran the kids 1km course this year and had an absolute ball - this is a rare opportunity where you want your kids to get as dirty and as muddy as they can!  Kids 6-10 years must register and accompanying adults are free.

 .... hose off the mud and enjoy a warm shower at the end! 

The kids obstacle course consisted of monkey bars, climbing frame, hurdles, hay bale climb, ball pit, big muddy pond, muddy hill climb and muddy tunnel crawl!  Kids got to run around the course as many times as they liked within in the 45 minute time slot.

Run A Muck is a great opportunity to do something different and fun as a family and to get some great family pics.  You'll need to take someone along that's not participating  to take your photos as your camera will get wet and dirty if you want to fully participate. 

At the end of the race participants can hose off and they enjoy a nice warm shower!  There were also lots of outlets selling drinks, icecreams, hot meals etc and a couple of bouncy castles for a play after the course if they still have some left over energy.

Here are some tips of you are going to go next year!

• Don't throw away their old worn shoes during the year keep them aside so that you can use them on the day and just throw them away - or wear gum boots
• If it's a cool day consider dressing your kids in a rashy
• Take a couple of big plastic bags to put all your muddy clothes in
• If rain is threatening take a small tarp to put over your bags with dry clothes or take a weather proof bag to make sure your dry clothes and towels don't get wet.
• Get there at least an hour before your run, the check in process was about a 1 hour wait, but they have received plenty of feedback about this and ensured they will improve this for next year.  

We highly recommend you put Run A Muck day in the family calendar, it's a great opportunity to take on a challenge and have fun as a family and help raise money for a worthy cause.
