Top Free April Family Events Perth

We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE April 2018 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.

Saturday 7th – Groundswell Kids Festival, Scarborough

The groundswell festival is on again with lots of fun activities for kids including inflatables, lucky dip, lawn games, crafts and more. Suited for 5 to 12 years, however toddlers are welcome. 9am - 12pm. Butlers Park, Ventnor St, Scarborough.

 Saturday 7th - Bickley Camp Community Open Day, Orange Grove

Experience a unique piece of the outdoors at the free Bickley Outdoor Recreation Community Open Day. Try for free the Vertical Challenge, Cubby Building, Canoeing, Arts and Crafts and even hold some local reptiles! 10am - 4pm. Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp, Hardinge Rd, Orange Grove.

Saturday 7th - Aveley Community Festival

Celebrate the vibrant local Aveley community at the Aveley Community Festival. There will be local performersand entertainment, rides, bouncy castles, climbing wall, face painting, and demonstrations for local community groups. 12pm - 5pm. Aveley Central Park, Egerton Drive, Aveley.

Saturday 7th - Bushmead's Festival

The celebrate the new Bushmead display home village they are holding a free community event where everyone is welcome. Join in for some good old-fashioned family fun with Totem tennis, Mini golf, Swings, Chalk art, A bouncy castle, Face painting, Giant colouring cube and more. 1:30pm - 5:30pm. Cnr Ashrove Entrance and Northgate Promenade, Bushmead.

Saturday 7th - Autumn River Festival, Bayswater

The Autumn River Festival is a large scale community event which celebrates the Swan River’s natural beauty from Maylands to Bayswater. Come along and join one of the City’s biggest annual events with carnival rides along with other activities on offer for the kiddies, fantastic adult entertainment as well as market stalls. It’s a great night to take advantage of the fabulous food vendors on site, buy dinner and enjoy great company under the stars. The night ends with a free outdoor movie so don’t forget your picnic rug. 2pm -9pm. Bayswater Riverside Gardens, Milne St, Bayswater.

Saturday 7th – Subiaco Street Party

The Subiaco Street Party is back for another year of FREE fun, festival entertainment in 2018. The Kids Quarter will be packed with plenty to keep even the littlest party animals entertained for hours with face painting, craft activities, old school badge making, Old Macdonalds Travelling Farm , Storytime, carnival rides, circus acts and a host of amazing eclectic buskers, including roving divas and Groovesaurus! 3pm - 10pm. Hay St and Rokeby Rd, Subiaco.

Sunday 8th - Autumn River Festival, Ascot

Treat the family to a fun-filled day by the river and enjoy a variety of FREE activities and entertainment! There is something for everyone to enjoy at the City's free Autumn River Festival. Families will love the kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, the children's pirate cove and inflatable rides. The free wave swing carnival ride will be sure to thrill all ages and then you can kick back by the beautiful Swan River and enjoy live music from a variety of Perth musicians. 11am - 3pm. Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Ave, Ascot.

Tuesday 10th – Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day

Since 1979, it’s Ben and Jerry's way to celebrate and say thanks to their awesome fans for another year of support, and they have kept it up every year since, spreading the peace, love & FREE ice cream around the world! You'd better start thinking about the tough decisions you'll need to make: Which Flavour? Cup or cone? Who's coming with you? 12pm - 8pm. Available at Ben & Jerry's Northbridge, Hillarys, Joondalup and Fremantle.

Friday 13th – Shakespeare in the Park, Rockingham

Join in for an evening under the stars in Bell Park for a fun and interactive interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Bring a picnic or grab some take away from one of the many wonderful restaurants along the Rockingham Foreshore, then sit back and enjoy the performance. Performance starts at 6pm and runs for 90mins. BYO picnic blanket and chairs. 5pm - 8pm. Bell Park, Rockingham Beach Rd, Rockingham.

Saturday 14th to 22nd - FREE Shopping Centre Activities

Saturday 14th – Pancake Youth Fest, Beckenham

Celebrating National Youth Week 2018 the City of Gosnells Youth Services are running the Pancake Youth Fest!! This is a family friendly event that will help celebrate young people in our community and their contributions. The event will showcase the many skills and talents of local young people with live music, performances, art workshops, and skate park event.  There will also be heaps of activities and games happening throughout the day including the pancake games, giant inflatables, photo booth, amusements and heaps more!! 10am - 12pm. Mills Park Skate Plaza, Brixton St, Beckenham.

Saturday 14th – Artbeat Youth Fest, Armadale

To celebrate WA Youth Week the City of Armadale and local community and youth organisations are bringing Artbeat Youth Fest to the Jull Street Mall. There's going to be lots of free fun and activites including a free inflatable photo booth and henna tattoos! 11am - 3pm. Jull St, Armadale.

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th – Buddha's Birthday and Multicultural Festival, Perth

The iconic Elizabeth Quay will be buzzing with activities during the 2-day event to spread the message of ‘Respect & Tolerance, Consensus and Openness’, promote harmonious co-existence among people, and provide visitors an insight into Buddhist teachings and philosophy as a way of life to bring about peace and happiness. It is a smoke-free and alcohol-free event which provides the community and people of all ages an opportunity to see, hear and taste a variety of experiences through ceremonies and rituals, cultural displays and exhibits, vegetarian food and multicultural entertainment. Entry is FREE and everyone is welcome. 11am - 8:30pm Saturday, 9am - 5pm Sunday. Elizabeth Quay, Perth.

Friday 20th – Eco Festival, Kalamunda

This free event features a pop-up cinema, screening eco-themed clips before the family favourite Wall-E (movie starts at 6:30pm), comfy bean bags, yummy popcorn, pedal-powered fun, Tee With a Twist - tackling fast fashion, A Recycle Right station, eco-friendly giveaways and more! This event is taking place at the Kalamunda Night Market, in the area next to the Kalamunda Town Square Hall. 6pm - 9pm. Central Mall, Central Ave, Kalamunda.

Saturday 21st – Kids Kerfuffle, Balcatta

The City of Stirling's Kids Kerfuffle returns these April School Holidays, transforming Rickman Delawney Reserve into the ultimate kids' obstacle course and free family fun day out. There will be FREE performers, hands-on art and crafts, music shows, bubbles, games, activities for kids under 6, food and more. Please note if you wish to do the obstacle course, there is a $10 entry fee. 9am - 1:30pm. Rickman Delawney Reserve, Rickamn St, Balcatta.

Saturday 21st - Kenwick Library Family Fun Day

Come along to Kenwick Library these school holidays for their family fun day! There will be a range of free activities on offer for all ages. Including: Rainbow Butterfly Storytime, an animal show, face painting, the Nomad Wandering Youth Space, have-a-go fitness sessions, community stalls, sausage sizzle, and much more. 9am - 1pm. Kenwick Library, 82 Kenwick Rd, Kenwick.

Saturday 28th - Cubby Town 2, Yanchep

Cubby Town will provide a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together in nature. Build cubbies and forts, play with mud kitchens, create nature crafts and explore Yanchep National Park through an interactive Scavenger Hunt. Entry to Yanchep National Park will be free to Cubby Town participants. 10am - 3pm. Yanchep National Park, Yanchep Beach Rd, Yanchep.

Free Outdoor Cinema Events

Take advantage of the warm summer evenings and head to one of the free outdoor movies being screened around Perth during April. Bring along a picnic for the ultimate cheap night out.
