We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE April 2019 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won’t break the bank.

Friday5th to Sunday 7th –  Joondalup Festival

Enjoya fun-packed three days of live entertainment and alfresco eating and drinkingat Joondalup Festival. Featuring oversized and interactive art installations,circus, music, comedy, children’s shows and more, there is something to tickleeveryone’s fancy. There are so many things to discover at Joondalup Festival!All events within the festival are free and family friendly. The Festival willfeature live music, International street performers and circus stars, children’sactivities, talks, stargazing nights, theatre performances for young and old,oversized and immersive art installations, food trucks, a licensed area andcommunity projects including the Twilight Lantern Parade and Community ChoralProject. Friday 5th to Sunday 7th – ART TRA LightFestival, Claremont

See Claremont Park transform into aninteractive outdoor gallery for three spectacular nights this April. Light upyour night as you take an illuminating stroll through the park and soak up theglow of the original light installations. 15 original light themedinstallations created by Western Australian artists, a special lightinstallation created by Freshwater Bay Primary School students, rovingentertainment with a special performance every night at 8pm and delightfullydelicious food stalls and a pop-up bar from The Claremont Hotel. This is a freeevent for the whole community. 5pm – 9pm nightly. Claremont Park, Bay viewTerrace, Claremont.

Saturday6th – Autumn River Festival, Ascot

Treatthe family to a fun-filled day by the river and enjoy a variety of FREEactivities and entertainment! There is something for everyone to enjoy at theCity’s free Autumn River Festival at Garvey Park. Try out free water activitieson the beautiful Swan River including stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking;delight your taste buds with delicious gourmet eats and our famous fish andchips; enjoy beverages from the Watering Hole; entertain the kids with the freeUrban Golf Challenge, inflatables and Supa Sizzler ride; and enjoy the talentsof musicians Sartori & Gamble, Little Bird and Arthur King. 12pm – 8pm.Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Ave, Ascot.


Saturday6th – Alkimos Vista Colour Party

Celebrate the opening of the AlkimosVista Display Village, Sales & Information Centre, Picasso Park andreopening of Sprout Community Hub. There will be an explosion of fun FREEactivities to inspire your creative spirit including  Live DJ, Kite Display, Giant Maze, Kite andWind Chime Craft Making, Face Painting, Mini Art Canvas Workshop, and so muchmore! 1pm – 4pm. Alkimos Vista, Picasso Promenade, Alkimos.

Saturday6th – Cockburn Cultural Fair, Atwell

Bringthe family along and be inspired by the diversity of foods and culture right onyour doorstep. This event highlights the many cultural communities of Cockburnand this year there will be a wide variety for you to experience. Performancesinclude, Chinese Folk Dancers, Taiko Japanese Drums, Alpen Duo, and a Livecooking demo with 2018 Masterchef Brendan Pang. Other activities include gocarting, face painting, henna, basket weaving, mold painting, camel riding andcritter displays. Cockburn’s Got Talent grand final will be held early in theday so be sure to come along and support your local talent. Activites are freebut bring cash to use at the stalls on the day. 1pm – 6pm. Saturday6th – Autumn River Festival, Bayswater

One of the biggest events onBayswater’s calendar, the Autumn River Festival celebrates the natural beautyof the Swan River. Get ready for carnival rides, children’s entertainment,market stalls, a fantastic range of food vendors and more.  2pm – 7pm. Bayswater Riverside Gardens, KingWilliam St, Bayswater.

Saturday6th – Subiaco Street Party

The Subiaco StreetParty, Subiaco’s biggest community event returns, with the theme ‘Around theWorld’, celebrating four distinct zones from around the globe. Check in withthe concierge to be provided with a special event passport for exploring newexperiences across four themed zones, including the Americas, Mediterranean,Asia and Down Under. A journey that includes pop-up bars, food trucks, music,dance, performances, interactive workshops and kids activities. 2pm – 9pm.Rokeby Rd and Hay St, Subiaco.


Saturday6th – Holland Park Community Fun Day

Head along for a FREE Community Fun Dayat Holland Park Estate. There will be activities for all ages includingCricket, Handball and a kicking target game, high kick competition, A groupgame of British Bulldog, Baseball, Capture the flag and rob the nest,Leaderball, Sack races and some egg and spoon races, and relays. There’ll alsobe a bouncy castle and refreshments provided. And yes, everything is FREE atour Community Fun Day. 2pm – 4:30pm. Holland Park Estate, Wildflower View,Piara Waters.

Sunday7th – Bickley Community Open Day, Orange Grove

Aonce a year chance to get to experience a unique piece of the outdoors at thefree Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp Community Open Day. Come and challengeyourself and try activities such as canoeing, vertical challenge, catapults andreptile education for free. There will be activities suitable for all ages.10am – 4pm. Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp, Hardinge Rd, Orange Grove.

Sunday7th – Progress Street Party, Morley

TheProgress Street Party will be highlighting Morley’s dominant cultures beingIndian, Italian, Vietnamese, Polish, Filipino, Chinese and English. All whoattend will feel like they’re being taken on a journey through these countries,with the various smells, sounds and tastes, causing a sensory overload. Foodtrucks, cultural activities and performances, kid’s zone, main stage androaming entertainment, this street party will cater to adults and children andhave a unique twist. 1pm – 7pm. Tuesday9th – Ben and Jerry’s Free Cone Day, Various Locations

Saturday13th – From Little Things Big Things Grow, Como

Comeand help create South Perth’s biggest field of flowers and pinwheels fromrecycled materials or join in the cardboard construction. There are no limitsto what can be created! A range of activities will be on offer to suit allages, including a bake sale, playdough, kids yoga, book swap and reading nook,science experiments and musical activities. Thefestival will be buzzing with activities during the  2-day event to spread the message of ‘Respect& Tolerance and ‘Faith and Legacy’. We hope to promote harmoniousco-existence among people, and provide visitors an insight into Buddhistteachings and philosophy as a way of life to bring about peace and happiness.It is a family friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free event which provides thecommunity and people of all ages an opportunity to see, hear and taste avariety of experiences through ceremonies and rituals, cultural displays andexhibits, vegetarian food and multicultural entertainment. Monday15th to Friday 26th – Tree Trail, Carine

Branchout, meet our trees and have fun as you explore the City of Stirling’s TreeTrail during the school holidays. Look out for Eco Faeries and Bindi Bindi Dreaming along the Trailbetween 9.30am and 12.00 noon each weekday of the school holidays. Friday 19th to Monday 22nd – FremantleInternational Street Arts Festival

Eachyear over the Easter long weekend, the streets of Fremantle are transformedinto an open-air theatre of the amazing, weird and wacky, while Fremantle’sfamous alfresco dining steps up a notch, with pop-up bars and eateriesextending into the streets. Entertainment centres around several major‘pitches’ or performance locations and roving performers pop up in surprisingand interesting places all across the City. 10am – 9pm daily. Sunday28th – Attree Real Estate’s Kids Carnival, Harrisdale

AFUN day filled with FREE carnival rides, kids activities, market stalls,busking entertainment, food trucks & more! 3pm – 7pm. Harrisdale Pavillion,83 Gravefield Boulevarde, Harrisdale.
