We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE August 2019 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.

Friday 2nd - Avon River Festival Northam

Head to the banks of the Avon River for the annual Avon River Festival! This year's highlights include: Huge fireworks display on the Avon River, Stage Show, Family Fun Zone, Community Street Parade, Markets for the avid shoppers, Local food venues and street food and much more. 4pm - 9pm. 2 Grey St, Northam.

Saturday 3rd -  Pink Ribbon Morning Tea, Cannington

Get ready to enjoy a morning of delicious morning tea goodies and fun activities for all ages, with plenty of great ways to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. There will be FREE activities for the kids, including:  take-home pink lava lamps, pink slime, and pink foam eruptions,  face painting  (10-12pm),  Mask making, music and games. 10am - 12:30pm. Cannington Showgrounds, Cnr Albany Hwy and Station St, Cannington.

Sunday 4th -  John Mactivation Launch, Victoria Park

Celebrate the new and improved John Macmillan Park at this family-friendly, pet-friendly event. Free activities for children including face painting, giant bubbles, bouncy castles, roving performers, puppet shows and much much more! Grab an event 'passport' and explore the event for your chance to win prizes! 9am - 1pm. John Macmillan Park, Kent St, Victoria Park.

Sunday 4th -  Avon Descent Festival, Caversham

The City of Swan and Perth Airport Avon Descent Festival is set to make an even bigger splash in 2019! Positioned on the water’s edge at the iconic Lilac Hill grounds, it’s the prime spot to cheer on the competitors as they speed on by! Off the water, this years’ festival program is the biggest yet, with a bumper program of FREE fun for the whole family from 10am - 3pm. Lilac Park Hill, West Swan Rd, Caversham.

Sunday 4th -  Avon Descent Finish Line Community Event, Bayswater

Cheer on the fearless Avon Descent competitors as they cross the finish line at Riverside Gardens. Enjoy food trucks, market stalls, entertainment and activities for the whole family. 11am - 6pm. Bayswater Riverside Gardens, King William St, Bayswater.

Sunday 4th -  Avon Descent Family Fun Day, Ascot

Get up close to all of the action at the City of Belmont FREE Family Fun Day and celebrate the Avon Descent. Cheer on competitors as they head towards the finish line of this gruelling 124km white water race. 11:30am - 2:30pm. Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Ave, Ascot.

Sunday 4th -  GoldBlooded Fan Day, Mt Claremont

Want to get up close and personal with the Qantas Wallabies, Western Force and Buildcorp Wallaroos? Embrace the footy fever and come along to the FREE fan day at UWA Sports Park. Your action-packed day will kick off at 11.30am with a variety of fun filled activities including appearances from the Wallabies and Wallaroos mascots, junior rugby matches, BBQ, music and much more!  11:30am - 4:30pm. UWA Sports Park, 10 McGillivray Rd, Mount Claremont.

Friday 9th -  Celebrate Bledisloe Cup, Perth City

Join the Gold Rush and celebrate the upcoming Bledisloe Cup match between the Wallabies and All Blacks. Head to Forrest Place on Friday, 9 August for inflatable challenges, face painting, tantalising food trucks and unique stage performances, including a traditional Haka! Stage performances will take place between 5pm and 7pm. 3pm - 8pm. Forrest Place, Perth City.

Friday 9th to Sunday 11th -  Pregnancy, Babies & Children’s Expo, Claremont

At Perth's ONLY Baby Expo, the Pregnancy Babies & Children’s Expo, you can chat face-to-face with our wide range of Exhibitors to gain up-to-date, expert advice on conception, pregnancy, and the early years of parenting. You can also see, touch, try and buy the products and services that best suit your needs. Discover all you need to know for you, your pregnancy or young child! Saturday 10th -  LiveLighter SJ Community Fair, Mundijong

All the fun of the fair comes to Mundijong for one boisterous and entertaining day! On display will be: Art, Photography, Textiles, Metalwork & Woodwork in the CRC building, Street entertainment throughout the day,  Landcare displays, Animal farm for the kids, Vintage motorcycles, Vintage tractor display ... and so much more. 10am - 4pm. Serpentine Jarrahdale CRC, 2 Paterson St, Mundijong.

Sunday 18th -  Nature of Science Community Expo, Wilson

Science meets sustainability at this year's Nature of Science Community Expo! Investigate how the City of Canning strive to make sense of our natural world and adapt to changes - with hands on activities, workshops, presentations and displays for the whole community! There is something for all ages - kids, teens, adults. FREE ENTRY & EVERYONE WELCOME! There will be Wadumbah Dance Group, solar science, Scitech shows, native animal encounters, prominent Aboriginal presenters, waste as a resource, bug science, recycled wood workshop, native plant   giveaways, Castledare Miniature Railway rides, competitions, sausage sizzle and much more… 10am - 3pm. Canning River Eco Education Centre, Cnr Kent St & Queens Park Rd, Wilson.

Sunday 25th -  Rockingham Arts Centre Open Day

Join in the fun at the annual Rockingham Arts Centre Open Day event! There will be lots of free art activities for all ages to enjoy including raffia weaving and Chinese calligraphy, as well as face painting and a drum circle. The kid's zone will have sand art card making for kids to make a special card for Father’s Day. 8am - 12pm. 11 Kent St, Rockingham.

Sunday 25th - Taste of Chittering

Showcasing the produce, wine and country lifestyle of Chittering, with farm-gate grower and producer heroes with tastings, dishes from guest chefs, wine and beer from Chittering's own brewers and winemakers, huge range of local market stalls, performances from musicians, farm and native animals and more.

Thursday 29th - Father's Day Family Fun Night (Various Stores)

Head to your nearest Bunnings Warehouse to celebrate Father's Day with your family. Activities differ by store, but usually include free activities, bouncy castle, entertainment and sausage sizzle. Check your local Bunnings store for times and activities.
