We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE December 2018 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.


FEATURED Nightly until 24th - Christmas Lights Trail Perth City

The city is shining bright with 18 mesmerising light installations and vibrant Christmas decorations lighting up the evenings. Select from two mapped out journeys or go your own way as you marvel at the stunning animated lights, festive street decorations, lively projections and festivities that brighten malls, streets and parks across the city. Saturday 1st - Nature Explorers, Bayswater

Join Nearer to Nature and City of Bayswater at Riverside Gardens for a family event by the river. Head out on a bird walk, learn about river dolphins, see a Captain Cleanup show and discover more about Nearer to Nature activities. Saturday 1st - The Attree 2018 Christmas Fair

Attree are hosting a Christmas Fair as a way of saying thank you to the local community. There will be FREE bouncy castle, FREE animal farm and FREE coffee. Saturday 1st - Tianqi Lithium Symphony Spectacular, Kwinana

Get ready for the biggest event in the 2018 Kwinana calendar!  Following on from the hugely successful 2017 Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony, the City of Kwinana is set to bring an event that is bigger and louder than ever before. Performed as you've never experienced them before, with a 55-piece orchestra from Perth Symphony Orchestra and fantastic light show, the Tianqi Lithium Symphony Spectacular will feature your favourite pop and rock songs including the hits of INXS, George Michael, Queen, Icehouse, Fleetwood Mac and film classics from Star Wars, Gladiator and Slumdog Millionaire! 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Therapy Focus is delighted to invite people with disability, their families, friends and the wider community to our inclusive family fun day, SUNFLOWER SUNDAY, as part of International Day of People with Disability celebrations. Wednesday 5th - Murray Community Christmas Celebration, Pinjarra

A highlight of the Shire's event calendar, the Murray Community Christmas Celebration promises to set the tone for a merry and bright festive season ahead. Saturday 8th - Curtin Explorer, Bentley

The Curtin Explorer event will be fun for the whole family, with cubby building, mud kitchens, clay play and nature crowns. Workshops will also be delivered by our friends at Curtin University including staff and students from the Early Childhood Education course, the Parks and Gardens team and the Engineering STEM Outreach Program. Collect your Curtin Explorer activity map and complete each activity to receive your very own nature stamp. Saturday 8th - Christmas in Elfenbrook, Ellenbrook

Christmas in Elfenbrook returns for another year with 120 Market Stalls, rides, amusements & attractions, live on stage entertainment, local food outlets & vans, Junkadelic Band, Christmas Pageant, and Murphy’s Lore performing. The Summer Street Party returns to the urban village of Victoria Park, delivering another great series of attractions to suit all ages and tastes. Sunday 9th - St Patrick’s Mount Lawley Christmas Festival

The free festivities will stretch along Beaufort Street between Perth College and First Avenue. Sunday 9th - Christmas Carols in Claremont

Town of Claremont presents Christmas Carols in Claremont - a free, community event held in Claremont Park.  With an exciting program including kids’ activities, a visit from Santa and carols by Perth Symphony Orchestra, this year’s Christmas Carols in Claremont will put you and your family in the Christmas spirit! This special annual event will kick off at 4pm on Sunday 9 December, with activities like a merry-go-round, the rainbow tractor train, gingerbread and umbrella decorating, a bouncy castle, camel rides, farm animals, face painting and more. 4pm - 8:30pm. Thursday 13th - Christmas at Lake Monger Festival

The Lake Monger Christmas Festival is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate community spirit leading into the festive season and share a great night out with friends and family. Saturday 15th - Rockingham Christmas Lights Festival

The event will feature a Christmas Street Parade, the turning on of the City’s Christmas lights, free children’s activities, fun roaming entertainment, live performances, community stalls selling handmade items, food vendors, and, of course, a visit from Santa. The inaugural Christmas Parade brings together local dance, sport, music and community groups across the Rockingham area to celebrate the festive season. Saturday 15th - Christmas Symphony, Perth City

Christmas cheer for all to hear! Light your candles & get your jingle bells ready for a night filled with Christmas sing-alongs and classical music hits with a magical fireworks filled finale under the stars.
