We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE January 2019 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.

Tuesday 1st - New Year’s Day Concert & Fireworks, Shelley

Celebrate the start of 2019 at the annual New Years Day Concert & Fireworks! A family friendly event alongside the iconic and picturesque Canning river with plenty of entertainment all day long. Entertain the kids with some incredible games and fun as well as roving entertainment and some fantastic live music and performances. Friday 4th - Twilight Festival, Baldivis

Celebrate summer and enjoy a little sparkle at the Mary Davies Library and Community Centre Twilight Festival. There will be entertainment for all ages including live music and sparkling stilt walkers. Learn to swing dance and get creative at the different art and craft stations. 4pm to 7pm. 17 Settlers Ave, Baldivis.

 Monday 7th to Thursday 24th - Transformers Autobot Zone, Lakeside Joondalup

Embark on a journey about the story on the eternal battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons; a universe where everything is more than meets the eye.Enter the NERF challenge area to help fight against the Decepticons, battle with your team on transformer puzzles and tech challenges or find your place in the Lightbox Craft Zone! PLUS meet & greet your favourite Transformer, Bumblebee! 11am to 2pm daily. Lakeside Joondalup, 420 Joondalup Drive, Joondalup.

Wednesday 9th and Friday 11th - Perth Scorchers Pop Up Cricket Clinic

A free pop up clinic designed for kids of all abilities to learn new skills and play Australia's favourite sport. Buzzing with the energy of Big Bash Cricket, kids will learn how to bat, bowl, field and catch - all while making new friends!

Wednesday 9th - 3pm to 4pm - Tom Simpson Park, Oceanside Promenade, Mullaloo

Thursday 10th January to Sunday 3rd February - Cirque Du Gateway, Success

Cockburn Gateway has teamed up with the 2019 Fringe World Festival to offer a summer of fun shows and performances. Thursday 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st - Terrace Nights, Claremont

Terrace Nights is back! Transforming the northern end of Bay View Terrace for a twilight street festival on Thursday evenings this summer. Join in the activities each night with free family entertainment, extended alfresco dining, live DJ, food trucks, buskers, late night shopping and a kids' corner. 5pm - 9pm Every Thursday in January, Bay View Terrace, Claremont.

Saturday 12th - Music in the Park, Kinross

Pack a picnic and bring family and friends along to enjoy a warm summer's night with live music from talented Australian musicians PLUS free activities to entertain the kids.Performing on the evening are soul-soaked Brisbane locals Cheap Fakes along with a 60s sound, Jamaican inspired performance by The Isolites. 5pm - 8:30pm. Falklands Park, Falkland Way, Kinross.

Sunday 13th - Pirate Attack at East Fremantle Yacht Club

Muskets will be drawn, the Jolly Roger will be raised & those who do not surrender will walk the plank! On Sunday 13th January 2019, the Duyfken is going to attack EFYC from 9am – 1pm, so put on your pirate gear & come along & enjoy a fun-filled day! There will also be a bouncy castle, games, the St Ayles Skiffs, Navy Cadets and much more for the kids! This event is open to both members and non-member.

Friday 18th to Sunday 17th February - Fringe World Festival

FRINGE WORLD is a summer celebration held in Perth and Western Australia each year.  It’s the largest annual event in WA and the third largest Fringe in the world. This year there is a large range of free family entertainment on offer including the very popular Fringe World Mermaids, Street Performers, concerts, an all ages dance party and more! Saturday 19th - Recquatic Open Day, Kwinana

Save the date for an afternoon full of fun and excitement! This FREE community event has something for the whole family. There will be Ponycycles, walking dinosaurs, bouncy castles, Animal Farm, real life mermaids and heaps more! 12pm - 4pm. Kwinana Recquatic, Robbos Way, Kwinana.

Sunday 20th - Tots and families dance party, Victoria Park

Fun for the whole family! The little ones will love Rock 'n' Toddle, and Joi Ride will get everyone dancing with the best songs from the '90s to now. From 5:30pm. Fraser Park, Fraser Park Rd, Victoria Park.

Saturday 26th - Australia Day Big Breakfast, Gosnells

This annual family friendly event includes a range of free entertainment and activities for all ages. The kids will love face painting, Australia-themed arts and crafts and wildlife displays. Entertainment will take the main stage with circus performers, Aussie band ‘The Flaming Galahs’, the Birds of Prey stage show and much more. A Barbeque breakfast will be available to purchase. 8am - 11am. Centennial Pioneer Park, Federation Pde, Gosnells.

Saturday 26th - Australia Day Festival, Floreat

Join in for a true Aussie style celebration under the shady gum trees at Perry Lakes with a free BBQ breakfast generously supplied by the Lions Club of Floreat, a Welcome to Country, Citizenship Ceremony, live music by the Wesley Goodlet Jamboree Scouts and fun activities for the kids including a water slide, face painting, camel rides, sheep shearing and slithery and scaly friends and much more. 8:30am - 12:30pm. Perry Lakes, Perry Lakes Drive, Floreat.

Saturday 26th - Australia Day in Rockingham

Head to Churchill Park and enjoy performances by Chris Gibbs Band, 2018 Breakthrough Competition entrants, Akwaaba Drumming Circle, plus more. Get up close to some Australian animals with West Oz Wildlife. There will be free children’s activities, amusement rides and food vendors. The fireworks will light up the sky at 8.30pm. 5pm - 8:30pm. Churchill Park,  Rockingham Beach Rd, Rockingham.

Saturday 26th - Australia Day Celebration Zone, South Perth

The 2019 South Perth Australia Day Celebration Zone features multiple event areas with 100 free activities suitable for toddlers through to adults. New this year - Stunt Jump, Basket Connect 4, Airbrush Tattoos and the Big Wedgie Water Slides plus lots more! In the Art Tent kids can be inspired by what they love about Australia while decorating a kite or a paper umbrella, making a friendship bracelet, creating a beautiful sand art card or making an original fridge magnet. Roving entertainers and performers will add to the fun atmosphere: Balloon Artistry by Aaron Smith, Samba Band Beleza Samba, Puppeteers from DNA Puppetry, Hey Presto Magician, Hula Lula Ladies Band, Shrinking Violet Stilt Walkers and the Dinosaur Kids Train. 3pm - 7:30pm.  Sunday 27th - Aussie Play Day, Perth City

As part of the Australia Day Long Weekend, celebrate Australia’s diverse culture with a family fun day in the historic Cathedral Square. The FREE event will feature craft activities, live music and dance workshops. Explore the community village and get creative in cubby house themed to nations from around the globe. Children can also interact and learn from international dancers from New Zealand and India. 11:30am - 2:30pm. Cathedral Square, St Georges Tce, Perth.

Free Outdoor Cinema Events

Take advantage of the warmer evenings and head to one of the free outdoor movies being screened around Perth during November. Bring along a picnic for the ultimate cheap night out.
