The Brookfield Winter Lights festival returns in 2018 with more light installations, projections and entertainment than ever before – all designed to leave you breathless. From 20-30 June, the heritage buildings in Brookfield Place will be illuminated in a dazzling display of colour, light and nostalgic, multi-world adventures run nightly from 6-11pm. Inside the precinct you’ll find world-famous installations and thought-provoking sculptures such as the otherworldly Birds of Lumos, which combines natural forms with elements of steampunk to bring New Zealand’s endangered Rowi birds to life. Keep an eye out for the roaming entertainers, which this year include neon-lit Hula Hoop dancers and musical performances under the stars with the Perth Symphony Orchestra. Join in a spectacular night-time celebration of light and art transforming where our rivers meet. Perth-based artists VJzoo (Kat Black and Jasper Cook) will collaborate with Kambarni (Kamsani Bin Salleh) to deliver the first project for ART IN PLACE. Their artwork, Confluence, will be an ephemeral projection-based installation on to the body of water and illuminated on a fleet of boats, where the Swan (Derbarl Yerrigan) and Canning (Djarlgarro Beeliar) rivers meet. 6pm - 8:30pm.
