We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE March Perth Family Events 2019, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won’t break the bank.

Friday 1st to Monday 18th – Sculpture By The Sea Cottesloe

Sculpture by the Sea returns to CottesloeBeach for its 15th annual exhibition. Over 70 sculptures from across the worldwill transform Perth’s most famous beach into a sculpture park that overlooksthe Indian Ocean. What’s On This Labour Day Long Weekend 2018?!

Sunday 3rd & Monday 4th – Hyde Park Fair North Perth

For over 50 years the HydePark Fair has been delivering a fun-filled community event featuring live entertainment,arts & crafts, demonstrations, markets, sideshow rides, food, workshops,multicultural displays, educational information, business connections and muchmore. Presented by the North Perth Rotary Club, this not for profit event isthe best value family day out of the year. Sunday 10am – 9pm and Monday 10am -5pm. Hyde Park, Cnr Vincent and William St North Perth.


Sunday 3rd – Point Walter Concert

Theever-popular Point Walter concert is back again! This year’s headline actsinclude the All Star Supergroup Tribute Band, who will perform tributes ofseven of the world’s biggest acts including David Bowie, Blondie, RobbieWilliams, Dire Straits, Oasis, Madonna and the Rolling Stones; and AViiDA, aPerth powerhouse duo who smashed their way through 2015’s The Voice.There willbe plenty of other activities for the whole family, including face painting, abouncy castle and various pop-up information stalls to visit, as well as plentyof food trucks. The night will finish off with some amazing fireworks. 4:30pmto 8:30pm. Point Walter Reserve, Honour Ave, Bicton.


Saturday 9th – Alcoa Children’s Festival Calista

It’s Kwinana’sBig Day Out for kids with plenty of free and low cost activities for childrenaged 0 to 12. There will be unicorn rides, a merry-go-round, free popcorn andfairy floss and a side show alley with guest appearances from a real magician, a mermaid, a snake charmer and astrongman. 10am – 3pm. Calista Oval, 2 Walgreen Crescent, Calista (next to theKwinana Adventure Park).

Saturday 9th – Whitby Family Fun Day

Rollup! Roll up! It’s the biggest event on the Whitby Town Calendar! There will beheaps of fun activities including arts and crafts and amusement rides for thefamily plus delicious food .Make sure you write this one in your diary so youcan make a day of it. 11am – 3pm. Whitby Playground, Keirnan St, Whitby.

Saturday 9th – Retro Rewind Yanchep

Retro Rewind is returning to the vibrantsurrounds of Yanchep National Park for a celebration of all things yesteryear –from music and fashion to classic cars and more. Swing your hips and tap yourtoes to the funky tunes of Hornography, the rockin’ rhythms of Peta Lee and theSultanas of Swing, and the rockabilly grooves of The Rough Housers. As an extratreat this year will also feature the foxy and colourful Beehives Go-GoDancers! Entry to Yanchep National Park is free for the afternoon, and with apin-up parade and vintage exhibitors selling their wares, this is simply a familyfun event not to be missed. So strap on your dancing shoes and we’ll see youthere for a sun-drenched afternoon of swing! 1pm – 5pm. Yanchep National Park, Yanchep Beach Rd, Yanchep.

Saturday 9th – Corymbia Multicultural Festival, Forrestfield

The City of Kalamunda is pleased to announce the return of the Corymbia Multicultural Festival. Come and explore the world in a day with FREE cultural entertainment all afternoon long! There will be a Fireworks Finale,  Performers and Dancers,  Live Music, Arts & Crafts, Carnival Rides, Inflatable Fun, Arcade Games, Laser Tag,  Animal Farm and much more! 2pm – 8pm. Hartfield Park, Hale Rd, Forrestfield.

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th – Coogee Live

Coogee Live festival is back in 2019 with more mermaids, activities, live music, interactive art, cultural experiences, workshops, food trucks and entertaining performances! Set along the gorgeous Coogee Beach, Coogee Beach Reserve and Omeo Park, the festival has something for everyone over two big days. Coogee Live is a FREE event and most workshops are either free to participate or low cost. Saturday 10am – 10pm, Sunday 10am – 6pm. Socrates Park, Socrates Parade, North Coogee.

Sunday 10th – Peet and Perth Scorchers Community Fan Day, Alkimos

Bring the whole family down and enjoy the FREE activities including Inflatable Water Slides,  Arts & Craft Station, * Face Painting & Air Brush Tattoos, Giant Games and FREE coffee. You can also have fun in the Fan Zone with Perth Scorchers players signing autographs between 8.30am – 9.15am. Plus appearances by Blaze and Amber, the Perth Scorchers mascots. Happening at the same time and place is the FREE Perth Scorchers Kids Ultimate Cricket Workshop!  8:30am – 11:30am. Waterfront Park, Portside Promenade, Alkimos.

Sunday 10th – Splashfest, Swanbourne

Ready for a day of wet’n’wild fun under the sun? On Sunday 10 March, Splashfest is set to transform Swanbourne Reserve into a fun-filled water playground! From 2pm-5pm, beat the heat with an afternoof free water slides, rides, games, stalls and more. There is also a chillout marquee where people can take a break from making a splash to relax and enjoy the entertainment on offer.


Sunday 10th – Millars Landings Display Village Grand Opening, Baldivis

Get your game on at the Millars Landing Display Village GRAND OPENING, on Sunday March 10th! This event is family friendly and interactive – we encourage everyone to come along, check it out and get involved! There will be Live music,  200 FREE ice creams, Silent disco, Community sausage sizzle (don’t forget to bring your gold coins!),  Basketball & netball hoops, Face painting, Games & giveaways, and so much more! 3pm – 6pm. Millars Landing, Millars Rd, Baldivis.

Saturday 16th – Carnival Day, Currambine Central

Take part in the free carnival games located on the grassed area near Grand Cinemas. Games include Clown Head Game, Strongman Striker, Ferris Wheel and Bouncy Castle. There’ll also be sampling, giveaways and face painting! 10am – 2pm. Currambine Central, 1244 Marmion ave, Currambine.

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th – Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest

Head to Mandurah for the largest free community event in Western Australia showcasing lifestyle, location, culture and talent in celebration of Mandurah and the native Blue Manna crab! Enjoy fresh food, live music, performances, children’s entertainment, competitions, cooking demonstrations, celebrities… and more! 10am – 9:00pm Saturday and 10am to 5pm Sunday. Eastern Foreshore Reserve, 54 Mandurah Terrace, Mandurah.


Saturday 16th – Cambridge St Festival, Wembley

The always popular Cambridge Street Festival returns on Saturday 16th of March 2019 along Cambridge Street (between Simper & Jersey Streets) and is FREE to attend. The fun starts at 3pm and during the afternoon family & friends can enjoy a program of entertainment including live music, street theatre, pop up stalls offering handmade & unique products, community exhibits, roaming performers and gourmet food vans. The festival also includes a range of free children’s activities such as face painting, interactive craft activities, giant games, mini golf and amusement rides.  3pm – 8pm. Cambridge St, Wembley.

Saturday 16th – Harmonise Cultural Festival, Kewdale

Performers representing nations across the world will take to the stage to enthrall you with diverse musical and dance acts, plus take part in multicultural activities for all ages and enjoy free children’s amusements including a warrior obstacle course, face painting, teacup ride and camel rides. 4pm – 8pm. Tomato Lake, Oats St, Kewdale.

Saturday 16th – Astrofest 2019, Bentley

Astrofest is back in 2019 with an astronomcally awesome event the whole family will enjoy! Taking place at Curtin Stadium on Saturday the 16th of March, this astronomy festival of epic proportions will be an engaging celebration of Australian science.As well as optical and radio telescopes observing throughout the day and night, Astrofest will feature a myriad of interesting, engaging and exciting indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family. There will also be many different telescopes to try out, or you can bring your own for some expert advice in getting the most out of it. Bring an early supper and make yourself comfortable in the picnic area. 5:30pm – 9:30pm. Curtin University, Kent St, Bentley.

Sunday 17th – Ballajura Harmony Day

Come along for a fun family event with free activities, cultural performances and entertainment for all ages. There will be  Inflatable Amusements, Cuddly animals, Stalls, Purchase foods from around the world, Family entertainment and Free water truck (bring your own container). 12pm – 4pm. Karijini Oval, Showdonia Court, Ballajura.

Saturday 23rd – Harvest Green Park Opening

Come celebrate and find out how fabulous the new Harvest Green Park is! Bring the kids and family, there’s fun for everyone! There will be face painting, fairy floss and ice cream for the kids and for the adults we have all your caffeine needs covered with FREE coffees for all. 10- 12noon.


Tuesday 26th – World’s Biggest Playgroup Day, Whiteman Park

This is set to be a fantastic event with a whole lot of FREE fun and activities for you and your little one’s. You will be able to enjoy live entertainment, animal encounters, sport, music and craft activities, face-painting and so much more including:  Brownes’ Dairy Milking Demonstrations and Sample Truck. African Drumming, Animal Farm, Face Painting, Bouncy Castles, Singing and Dancing on stage, plus more to be announced soon! 10am – 1pm. Whiteman Park, Lord St, Whiteman.

Thursday 28th – Yirra Yaakin Family Picnic, Subiaco

Head to the Subiaco Arts Centre Theatre Gardens for their annual family picnic. Come and relax the night away with live music. Enjoy samples of kangaroo stew, damper and face painting for the kids (adults too). Yarn with the Yirra Yaakin team under the stars and become part of our community. 5:30pm – 8pm. Subiaco Theatre Gardens, Bagot Rd, Subiaco.

Saturday 30th – Envirofest, Whiteman Park

Discover ways to become more ‘green’ and sustainable at this fun, family-friendly environmental event! EnviroFEST is Whiteman Park’s flagship public conservation event, aiming to increase the public’s awareness and understanding of the importance of trees, the environment and conservation in the home and wider community. Visitors to this family-friendly event will be able to browse through displays, participate in workshops, listen in on short talks, pick up an array of eco-friendly products and discover community engagement opportunities to help you embrace sustainable living. 10am – 3pm. Whiteman Park, Lords St, Whiteman.

Saturday 30th – Performance in the Park, Rockingham

Bring your own picnic blanket or chair down to Bell Park and escape to Neverland with an enchanted theatre performance in the park for all ages to enjoy. Enjoy free, family entertainment before the show starts, including photo opportunities with your favourite fairy tale characters. The watch Peter Pan under the stars. 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Sunday 31st – 60th Anniversary Party in the Park, Nedlands

Nedlands celebrates 60 years as a city in 2019 – and you’re invited to celebrate! The ree Party in the Park will take place from 4pm-7pm, Sunday, 31 March, at Paul Hasluck Reserve, the Esplanade with vibrant live music from The Chameleon Brass Band and Little Belle, food trucks, kids’ activities, market stalls and more.

Free Outdoor Cinema Events

Take advantage of the warm summer eveningsand head to one of the free outdoor movies being screened around Perth during March. Bring along a picnic for the ultimate cheap night out.
