Top Free May Family Events Perth

We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE May 2019 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.

Saturday 4th -  Altone Come Alive, Beechboro
Altone’s favourite festival returns for another massive year!  Spend the day being entertained by local performers, schools, dance and cultural groups with a massive program of onstage entertainment. Mosey around and take in the community stalls, markets and massive array of food trucks and multicultural stalls. Let the kids loose in the massive kids zone with plenty of rides and amusements, cuddly and native animals, activities, face painting and stacks more. Entry and entertainment is absolutely free and there is plenty of parking available onsite. 11am - 4pm. Altone Park Oval, 332 Benara Rd, Beechboro.

Saturday 4th -  Games on the Green, Kwinana
Bounce down to the FREE GAMES ON THE GREEN event and to help celebrate the official opening of the first park and playground in Cassia Estate, Kwinana. Share in the fun of trying different ball games, including cricket, basketball, soccer & football... plus loads more! 1pm - 4pm. Hawkeswood Boulevard, Kwinana.

Sunday 5th -  Heron Park Harmony Festival, Harrisdale
The 5th annual Heron Park Harmony Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever! Join in for a full line up of entertainment, as well as education displays, Have-A-Go activities and multicultural foods. 11am - 4pm. Jim and Alma Baker Park, Welcome Meander, Harrisdale.

Sunday 5th -  Aquamotion Family Fun Day, Wanneroo
To celebrate the reopening of its remodelled indoor lap and leisure pool, Wanneroo Aquamotion is holding a free family fun day. See the refresh for yourself and try out the new facilities for free, such as the state-of-the-art gym, splash pad, spa and sauna. The fun day will feature  mini fitness and aqua tryout sessions, a bouncy castle, face painting, photo with a Mermaid, synchro demo,  Aquababy trial lessons, free swim assessments, food trucks, a coffee van and free ice-creams for the first 100 visitors. 1pm - 5pm. Aquamotion, 19 Civic Drive, Wanneroo.

Sunday 5th -  Moondyne Festival, Toodyay
The legend of Moondyne Joe, the Avon Valley’s legendary bushranger transforms the picturesque historical town of Toodyay, Western Australia into a lively daylong festival.  A highlight of the day being the re-enactment of Moondyne Joe’s various escapades throughout the town, his arrests and mock trial.  Join in the fun with Moondyne Joe as he runs around town, robbing shops, escaping custody and being a general menace.  Cheer on Joe’s gang, ‘floozies’, coppers, swaggies and the Town Crier.   This is a FREE Festival from 9am to 4pm. So come along and experience the community spirit in the centre of Toodyay, complete with street theatre, colonial village, entertainment, artisan and heritage crafts, healthy food stalls and loads of non-stop, amazing fun activities for all the family.  Everyone is encouraged to dress in pioneer period costume! 9am to 4pm Stirling Terrace, Toodyay.

Sunday 5th -  Mt Hawthorn Streets & Lanes Festival
This year’s theme is ‘Secrets of the Side Streets’. Uncover all the hidden gems, history, little known facts, and intrigue that make up this wonderful suburb. Expect a huge day filled with: Billy cart races, Carnival rides, Live music,        Food stalls + local restaurant extensions, Dog show, Lego land, Market stalls, Roving entertainment, Voice box karaoke, Local unplugged music and more! 12pm - 7pm. Scarborough Beach Rd, Mt Hawthorn.

Monday 6th to Sunday 19th -  Armadale Arts Bush Trail, Bedfordale
The natural beauty of the Armadale Settlers Common East will be highlighted during the inaugural Armadale Arts Bush Trail. Local schools and community groups have been working with local artists Renae Whyte and Elise Marshall to create stunning ephemeral artworks utilising the natural materials of the area.Guided by nationally and internationally renowned land artist Elaine Clocherty, the Armadale Arts Bush Trail provides a serene environment to stroll around and enjoy nature while your eyes wander, exploring the natural bush in all its glory. Guided walks are daily at 10am, trail is on display from 10am to 2pm. Settler’s Common, Triton Crescent, Bedfordale.

Wednesday 8th -  Bunnings Mother’s Day Family Night
Bring the whole family down to your local Bunnings store to enjoy a night of free activities, food and giveaways. Check which stores are participating and what's on offer on the Bunnings website and don't forget to make a booking! Times and locations vary.

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th -  Toymate Joondalup Grand Opening
Toymate has taken over the Joondalup Toys R Us store and it’s magical! To celebrate, they’re hosting a weekend of family fun. There will be FREE GIVEAWAYS FOR EVERY KID, great offers and LOADS of  FREE entertainment for the whole family! Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 11am - 5pm. 151 Winton Rd, Joondalup. Saturday 11th -  Ramp It Up Competition, High Wycombe
Get ready for the City of Kalamunda’s 2019 Ramp It Up Skate, Scooter & BMX Comp! Hosted by pro skate and BMX group Freestyle Now, Ramp it Up is open to all ages and skill levels, with loads of prizes up for grabs throughout the afternoon. Don’t skate? No worries! Ramp it Up will also feature:  free sausage sizzle, A 30-metre giant inflatable obstacle course, Art Workshop, live music courtesy of a local DJ, the Island chill out zone and more! 12pm - 5pm. Fleming Reserve, 111 Newburn Rd, High Wycombe.

Sunday 12th -  Perth Chung Wah Cultural Festival Opening, Burswood
Burswood Park will be transformed into a thriving market with activities, performances and food stalls. The festival will feature: Dragon boat racing, Kite shows, Lantern making, Chinese storytelling, Lion and dragon dances and Tai Chi. 9am - 10pm.

Saturday 18th -  Artbeat Youth Fest, Armadale
The City of Armadale and local community and youth organisations are bringing the annual Artbeat Youth Fest to the Jull Street Mall. Packed with a line up of awesome and free festival features, it is the local youth event of the year, not to be missed. Make sure you tell your mates and head to Jull Street for the live music, interactive workshops, art, game zones, henna and so much more! 11am - 3pm.

Saturday 18th -  Rock & Read, Fremantle
Rock & Read is an afternoon festival for kids at Fremantle's historic Samson House between 1pm-4pm.It's free for all - as long as you dress up as your favourite book character or pop/rock star! Hear some of your favourite kids' authors like Barry Divola; read from their work and meet other fans with a book signing afterwards. Dance away to the rock stars of tomorrow. Plus craft, art, activities, food, drink and a party atmosphere in the grounds of one of Fremantle's most historic homes. Plus. make your own library bag with Kindling Creative. 1pm - 4pm. Samson House, Ellen St, Fremantle.

Sunday 19th -  Family Fun at Leisure World, Thornlie
Head to Leisure World Thornlie for FREE entry to aquatic areas from 12.30pm-2.30pm.  The slide will be open and there will have inflatable balls in the pool to keep you entertained.There will also be two "Come and Try" Aqua Sensory play sessions beginning at 1pm and 1.45pm. 12:30pm - 2:30pm. Leisure World, Thornlie Ave, Thornlie.

Tuesday 21st -  Families Week Celebration in the Park, Beckenham
Bring along a picnic to share with your family and enjoy a fun afternoon of free activities including bubble play, the EcoFaeries, Old Macdonald's travelling animal farm, cubby building with Educated by Nature, park play and lots more. 4pm - 6pm. Mills Park, Brixton St, Beckenham.

Sunday 26th - Wear ya Wellies, Bindoon
Wear Ya Wellies is a nature based (and muddy) family event which aims to provide an opportunity for the entire family to experience unstructured outdoor play, the messier the better!  There will be 2 separate mud pits, one for under 4's and another for 4yrs and up.  There will also be a number of different nature based activities, animals, mini train rides, arts and crafts and market stalls. The event is free, but tickets are required. 10am - 3pm. Edmonds Place, Bindoon.

Tuesday 28th  - Kwinana Recquatic’s Under 5’s Family Fun Day
Parents / Carers / Guardians with children aged five years and under are invited to attend this event, giving them the chance to enjoy various activities; including art and craft stations, a Kindygym demonstration, playdoh, recycling fun, face painting and more. Entry is free! 10am - 1pm. Kwinana Reqcquatic, Skerne St, Kwinana.
