We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE October 2018 Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won't break the bank.

Monday 1st to Sunday 7th - Free School Holiday Shopping Centre Activities

Your local shopping centre is a great place to enjoy free activities during the school holidays. Find out what's on at your local shopping centre this September / October School Holidays here. There are free PJ masks and Peppa pig shows, lots of crafty activities and some Robot laser wars!

Daily Until 30th October - Spring In The City

Spring has blossomed in the city and there’s over 100 sensational events and offers just waiting to be discovered. There are plenty of family friendly events, interactive and free activities both indoors and outdoors and it’s all in bloom right now! Find out more info here:

Wednesday 3rd - Cloisters Family Fun Day, Perth

Stuck for ideas on how to keep the kids entertained these school holidays? Cloisters is hosting a Family Fun Day and everybody is welcome to join in on the fun! There will be a range of awesome activities planned to keep the kids entertained. Activities include a travelling animal petting zoo, face painting, balloon twisting, magic shows, jumbo party games and heaps more! Take the opportunity to meet up with your loved ones for lunch at Cloisters, whilst keeping the kids entertained, all in the one place! 10am - 1pm. Cloisters, 863 Hay St, Perth.

Thursday 4th - Scarborough Community Hub Open Day

The Scarborough Community Hub is opening its doors to show you what they have to offer! Come along to this free event and enjoy the festivities. Pick up a drum and get swept up in the rhythm in a drumming workshop, sit in on a storytime session or have a play in the toddler gym. There’s heaps to do! 10am - 2pm. Scarborough Library, 173 Gildercliffe St, Scarborough.

Thursday 4th - Dianella Plaza 50th Birthday Party

To celebrate Dianella Plaza's 50th Birthday they are putting on a party! There will be a lineup of fantastic entertainment and pressies, including: Free Cupcakes (100 free cupcakes to the first 100 guests), Birthday Cake Hunt, Spin N Win, Messy Play, Animal Farm plus free Face Painting,special birthday offers and live music by Luke Cleland. 10am - 2pm. Dianella Plaza, 366 Grand Promenade, Dianella.

Saturday 6th -YMCA Westminster Free Family Fun Day

A morning full of fun activities including face painting, nutritious yummy snacks and you can learn about our unique approach to learning. All welcome. 9am - 12noon.

Saturday 6th - Rossiter Pavilion Opening Party, Piara Waters

The Rossiter Pavilion Opening Party will showcase the facility's stunning grounds with a 6.30pm screening under the stars of The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Michelle Williams, live music performances, face painting, circus workshops, storytelling, Bike Doctor servicing, a craft corner and giant games. 4pm - 8pm. Rossiter Avenue, Piara Waters.

Sunday 7th – Buckingham House Open Day, Wanneroo

Come and visit Buckingham House, one of Wanneroo’s historic gems, for an afternoon of hands-on heritage fun. Learn some old fashioned skills, try your hand at some vintage games and cast yourself back in time in the Old Wanneroo Schoolhouse at this free community event. 1pm - 4pm. 10 Neville Drive, Wanneroo.

Sunday 7th - Ocean Reef Marina Open Day

Get a dose of vitamin sea at the Ocean Reef Marina Open Day. You’ll have the chance to help shape the public spaces at the marina, as well as face painting, arts and crafts, and more! 10am - 4pm. Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club, Boat Harbour Quay, Ocean Reef.

Saturday 13th - Centenary Season Launch and Community Celebration, North Cottesloe

Join North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club as they celebrate turning 100. The whole community is welcome to come to the beach from 10am to party. There will be heaps for the family to do and see including: Live bands, Magicians, Photo booth, Silent disco, Police pipe band, Sandcastle competition, Buskers, Kite making and much more! From 10am. North Cottesloe Beach, 151 Marine Parade, Cottesloe.

Saturday 13th - Iluma Display Village Launch Party, Bennett Springs

The official opening of the Iluma Display Village will have lots of free fun and activities for the kids, a community sausage sizzle, free coffee and ice cream, plus lots of giveaways. There will be activities for the whole family including: free hair braiding, henna tattoos, handball game and prize wheel,  Free craft workshop for the kids, Meet Princess Jasmine and Batman, Free Bouncy castle and more. 12pm - 3pm. Luminous Boulevarde, Bennett Springs.

Saturday 13th - Positive Vibes Youth Fest, Kwinana

Join the City of Kwinana for the Positive Vibes Youth Festival on Saturday, 13 October! Enjoy performances by Young Jaycee, MC Trooth, DJ's AZURA and Morty By Nature, plus a range of activities including; - Skatepark demos and best trick comps,  3x3 street ball comps,  Laser tag,  Dodgeball,  Game vault , Photobooth,  Beauty Boutique, Food Trucks,  Inflatables and more! 12pm - 4pm. Edge Skatepark, Cnr Gilmore Ave and Harlow Rd,  Kwinana.

Sunday 14th - East Fremantle Yacht Club’s Family Open Day

To celebrate their 85th Birthday the East Fremantle Yacht Club is holding a huge Family Open Day. Everyone is welcome so make sure you bring along all your family and friends! There will be radio controlled boats, Sea Scouts and Dragon Boat displays, you can take a tour of the Duyfken from 9.30am, or even have a go at sailing or stand up paddling boarding!The kids will also enjoy a fun filled day with a bouncy castle, games and ice-creams and lolly bags to be given away. We have live entertainment in the afternoon, a Birthday Cake and hourly giveaways, so make sure you come down and enjoy all of the festivities! 8am - 6pm. Petra St, East Fremantle.

Saturday 20th - Rockingham Seaside Scavenge

In the market for some sweet new threads? Hanging out to save some turtles? Or just needing a groove to some beachin’ beats?  With 300 million tonnes of plastic produced annually, there’s a whole heap that makes its way out to sea and into the stomachs of innocent marine and bird creatures. So that's why every 10 pieces of litter you pick-up and sort at the Scavenge, will earn you a Trash Token valid in our pre-loved, pop-up market full of funky pre-loved clothes, books & more. There'll be a bundle of local green groups to chat with, local live musicians to lap up and the chance to fill your noggin with tips on how to avoid single-use plastics. 10am - 2pm. Bell Park, Rockingham Beach Rd, Rockingham.

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st - Oktoberfest Weekend, Sorrento Quay

Head to Sorrento Quay for Oktoberfest for a weekend jam packed full of fun activities for the kids, live music, dancers and more!  This is a free event for all ages. 11am - 8pm Saturday, 11am - 4pm Sunday. Sorrento Quay, 58 Southside Drive, Hilarys.

Sunday 21st - Mandurah Children’s Festival

Buckle up for another free, family fun event in celebration of National Children's Week! This year's theme is Sports and Games so throw on the jersey and enjoy: - meet and greets with sports players from across the state,  interactive workshops,  activities,  dress up competition and  stage entertainment. 10am - 3pm. Eastern Mandurah Foreshore, Mandurah Tce, Mandurah.

Sunday 21st - Family Fun Day at Whiteman Park

This year’s event will be jam packed full of FREE, fun activities for the whole family. Bring a healthy picnic and enjoy the outdoors with your family. There will be a climbing wall, fun maze, Bricks 4 Kidz, obstacle course, demonstrations from Scitech and AQWA plus lots more! 10am - 2pm. Whiteman Park, Lord St, Whiteman.

Sunday 21st - Little Feet Festival, Joondalup

Widely regarded as the region’s biggest cultural event for children 12 and under, this free festival will again kickstart the City of Joondalup’s exciting summer events program. This year’s festival theme is ‘On Safari’ with a packed program of free activities and events that will take young explorers on an action-packed safari adventure. 1pm -5pm. ECU, 270 Joondalup Drive, Joondalup.

Tuesday 23rd - Read, sing and Play in the Park, Beckenham

Come along for an afternoon of free family fun with storytellers, Australian animals, community stalls and activities, bouncy castles, launch of the Paint the Highway REaD mascot… and lots more. 3pm - 5pm. Mills Park, 86 Brixton St, Beckenham.

Wednesday 24th - Teddy Bears Picnic, Waikiki

Come along to this free event and enjoy face painting, a cuddly animal farm, bouncy castle and the opportunity to meet with Early Years’ service providers. Don’t forget your teddy bear! 9am - 11:30am. Fantasy Park, Rand Ave, Waikiki.

Wednesday 24th - Teddy Bears Picnic, Spearwood

This year’s event includes a live performance and a meet and greet with the internationally renowned Nick Jr.’s “PAW Patrol”. Other activities include: Parenting information stalls, Hello Baby Corner, Cuddly farm animals, Roaming teddies and Art and crafts. 10am - 1pm. Manning Park, 61 Azelia Rd, Spearwood.

Friday 26th - Outdoor Village, Waikiki

Educated by Nature welcome children to join in this free event and explore the outdoors. Be inspired by nature, and enjoy wilderness activities including hut building and flag making. 4pm - 6pm. Fantasy Park, Rand Ave, Waikiki.

Saturday 27th - Children's Week Family Picnic Day Kwinana

The Children's Week Family Picnic Day will have fun for the whole family, including an interactive Scavenger Hunt through the Kwinana Adventure Playground, mud kitchens, nature crafts, and a special visit from the Bush Fairies! This is a self-guided event where parents and caregivers are responsible for their own child or children in their care at all times. 10am - 2pm.

Sunday 28th - Rotary Spring Fair, Spearwood

The whole family are invited to this free community event. The annual Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair has much to offer and this year will feature a medieval theme so you can get lost amongst the: Roving dragons, fair maidens and knights in shining armour, Stroll down side show alley, See live sword fighting and; For the young at heart, immerse yourself at the FROSH Youth Festival plus much more. 11am - 8pm. Free Outdoor Cinema Events

Take advantage of the warmer evenings and head to one of the free outdoor movies being screened around Perth during October. Bring along a picnic for the ultimate cheap night out.
