XLR8 Obstacle Course located at Baldivis Fitness, is a permanent military style obstacle course available for party, corporate, school and club bookings. They also run many public events during the year for kids, teens, adults and families.
We went along to one of the Operation XLR8 Kids Obstacle Course events. There is a choice of the 1km inner course, or the 2km outer course. The kids courses are designed for kids 5 & 1/2 - 14years, so there are two distances to choose from depending on you children's abilities.
Before the kids can start the obstacle course the Baldvis Fitness Team take the kids through a warm up and show them what they need to do at each obstacle on the course.
Once this was done they were ready to go. The course included ropes to climb under, a mud climb through tyres, swinging from monkey bars, jumping off a sea container, running through water and basically getting as muddy as they can. Parents can watch and take photos from the sidelines around the course. In total the session ran for 2 hours - which was more than enough to wear the kids out.
At the end the kids are given a hose down and are then given a certificate and a rubber band bracelet to takehome. For this course event tickets were $25 per child ( + small online booking fee).
Teens and Adults events are also run regularly for kids over 12 years and adults and include 3km-20km courses
Things to take: old clothes, shoes and socks, another change of clothes so they dont dirty the car, a towel and a garbage bag for the muddy clothes. Also bring plenty of drinking water and a picnic lunch.
They do sell a range of hot and cold drinks and there is a little seating area where you can take some time out after the course and enjoy your packed lunch or a drink from the kiosk.
We stayed at the beautiul Mandurah Family Resort, just a 20 minute drive away and made a weekend of it while were were down this way.
XLR8 Obstacle Course is loads of fun for the kids and a great way to keep them active, keep an eye out on their facebook page for school holiday obstacle events also.
